Popular Post rooster59
Private quarantine facilities at own cost offered to returning foreigners By THE NATION Foreigners returning to Thailand from abroad can choose special services at their own expense during their 14 days of quarantine on arrival. The Public Health Ministry has collaborated with private organisations to provide Alternative State Quarantine accommodation, the PR Thai Government Facebook page informed this week. This kind of quarantine venues are for those who need more services and conveniences compared to normal state quarantine. According to the Facebook page, participating hotels must have a contract with a hospital to take care of their guests, regarding healthcare and treatment, throughout the quarantine period. Hotels offering Alternative State Quarantine are required to pass the assessment of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Defence, it said. There are currently five places ready to accommodate people returning from foreign countries -- Movenpick Wellness BDMS Resort Hotel, Qiu Hotel Sukhumvit, Grand Richmond Hotel, Royal Benja Hotel, and The Idle residence. The places are located in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Pathum Thani. The quarantine promotions offered by the hotels vary in price and service. Those interested in the Alternative State Quarantine accommodation can check the hotels’ websites or their social media channels. According to Qui Hotel Sukhumvit, around 90 guests have totally taken its Alternative State Quarantine accommodation since the service started. Also, the hotel informed that total rooms, prepared for being Alternative State Quarantine, were 79. Moreover, Qui Hotel revealed that around 600 to 700 people have asked it about this service, estimated from those Facebook’s direct messages and comments. On Friday (May 29), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that foreigners with work permits or permission from the Labour Ministry or other government agencies would be allowed to enter the country after registration, under the third phase of lockdown relaxation. Eligible foreign nationals can submit their applications to the Thai embassies in their respective countries, deputy spokesman Natapanu Nopakun said. “They must have a health insurance and a health certificate, and will also be subject to 14 days quarantine in Thailand, either at a state facility or in a private facility at their own cost,” he added. Popular Post 19DL86
Yes this will likely be quite expensive, aimed more at your returning Expat oil and gas boys for example. Can't see the 1,000Bt per night 2/3star hotels being in the mix. My guess 5,000 per night. Those involved will be "high end" establishments with association and connections in the Govt. ...........well I maybe wrong, a quick look on booking.com and some of these hotels are in a very reasonable price range. In fact it looks like many very good hotels are now sub 1,500Bt. Edited May 31, 2020 by 19DL86 6

So, the per night charge will surely be much higher than whatever you are seeing now for a normal booking.

lopburi3
Some private hospitals also have floors available for such 14 day stay. The price for hotels or hospitals seemed to be in the 30-60k range for normal stay/cleaning/3 meals a day from a short list I noticed yesterday.

Whats the difference between staying in hospitals and hotels if showing no signs of symptoms of returning from abroad and staying locked up in my own home for free in Thailand under quarantine - I am not keen on funding the ailing hotel industry - got enough bills of my own to pay? 7 1

I'd say they prolly reckon they can police the quarantine better if locked up in a hotel or hospital.

Cheapest I've seen is Royal Benja in soi 3 at 45k, which is around double the rates you can find at the same hotel on the booking sites. 1

scorecard
"... and will also be subject to 14 days quarantine in Thailand, either at a state facility or in a private facility at their own cost,” he added." My guess is that the above could easily be misunderstood: Questions: -Does foreigner pay to stay at 'state facility'? (It's clear that the foreigner pays at the luxury locations.) - Can 'private facility' mean stay at own home with own family (no other older people in residence), isolated in own bedroom, son puts meals at the b'room door? Especially where: - foreigner uses a wheel chair - if foreigner holds PR - if destination is not Bkk (mine is Chiang Mai where there's no mention of luxury locations) - if coming from a country which has very low infections numbers, low number of deaths, e.g. Australia - where Oz doctor is suggesting a full test 14 days before departure and then again 3 days before departure and both tests are negative? Seems that no flights yet operating Sydney to Chiang Mai and return to Sydney, but when operational I will contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CAAT and ask re the above and post their answers.
