Interprovincial vehicles were allowed to enter and leave Songkhla province from Tuesday (June 2) provided they stick to all preventive measures that have been put in place by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration.

Meanwhile, governor Jaruwat Kliangklao has said that all those who enter the province must pass screening checkpoints, while all arrivals from Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Chiang Mai, Chonburi, Pathum Thani, Phuket, Yala and Pattani are required to be quarantined for 14 days. This requirement does not cover those who have only driven through the abovementioned provinces.

The provincial authorities have also said that all interprovincial buses will be overseen by the provincial land transport office and are insisting that people wear medical masks while in public.

In a bid to boost the economy and help lives return to normal, the government has allowed interprovincial travel as part of the third phase of lockdown easing, which came into effect on June 1.

Though people are still required to observe the 11pm to 3am curfew, passenger vehicles and public buses can still depart before 11am and arrive at their destination after 3am.

Malaysia is still a hotspot, many areas have continued to allow mosque services, and Thailand must exercise extreme care in letting anyone in from Malaysia. In my opinion, anyone coming in through the southern border should be required to have mandatory Covid testing. It is the most dangerous border Thailand has.
