Yala Railway Station was deep-cleaned on Wednesday (June 10) as it prepared to reopen to passengers on Thursday (June 11) along with other stations in the southern border provinces.

Staff were busy cleaning and sterilising the waiting areas and platform of the more than 100-year-old station on Wednesday morning.

The train service between Yala and other stations in the area is scheduled to restart on Thursday, as a part of the recent lockdown easing. Governor Chaiyasit Panichpong locked down the province on March 30, prohibiting travel out of or into Yala.

The reopened rail service will operate according to “new normal” practices, with all passengers and staff required to wear masks, have their temperatures checked, and check in and out of the service via the ThaiChana digital platform. The pre-booking service for tickets will also restart this Thursday.
