Popular Post ubonjoe
Copies of both passport photo pages. Copies of visa, most recent entry stamp, extension stamp if any and TM6 departure card. Some offices may want a copy of every page with a visa or stamp for Thailand on it. 4
dsj
Ubonjoe, I have a question, my retirement extension is up for renewal November 11, and my passport expires September 2021, so I am planning to get a new passport before renewal so I can get a full year extension. My question is should I get a new passport here in Bangkok, or if I am able go back to Canada (if things have opened up by then) get it there, and when I returned to Thailand, would I show immigration both old passport (that's where the extension and reentry permit is) and the new passport, then go and do my extension renewal, or would it be easier to do new passport and extension before I leave Thailand. Thanks

If you get your passport in Canada you would show both passport to use your re-entry permit to enter the country and they would stamp you into the country in the new one.

SooKee
Dragging this up seeing as it has the copy of the letter from the British Embassy. At the bottom it states: a) "he / she entered Thailand on........" b) "and he / she was issued with...............................visa" Is the info required at a) the last entry date into Thailand or the first entry on the visa initially issued? At first I was inclined to write the last entry date but with the reference to the visa on the next line I'm not so sure. At b) I'm guessing this means the original visa type, not the number? As I only have the one letter I don't fancy getting it wrong and having to do a repeat trip to CW with another one! I also considered leaving those questions blank and asking the IO, just wasn't sure if they'd expect the form to be completed fully given it's signed by the Vice Consul

I've got the copies of the details pages, current extension, last entry / TM6 along with the Embassy letter and Immigration stamp transfer form, not planning to do all the previous extensions etc yet, if they ask I'll go down and do them. I'm not planning to go until next month though, after Songkran, as I'll have a 90 day due around then which AFAIK needs to be done in person with a new passport, plus I need a Certificate of Residence to renew my driving licences, so the plan is to wrap all that up with one trip to CW and then MTT. Can't wait ???? Edited March 26, 2021 by SooKee

Can't wait ???? I can't advise on which stamps they wanted. I ended up photocopying all pages with annual extensions and reentry permits along with id pages, last arrival stamp,tm6 etc. I do recall them handing some back. As far as the 90 report and RC both done at MTT...... I made a booking for the 90 report (worked well). After you have the report receipt you go back to queue desk and they give you a number. The good bit is RC desk does not have a queue. You go straight to that desk. (it's next to 90 report desk). The ONE hitch is that after obtaining the report receipt you need go downstairs to photo copy it. That can be busy unlike CW. http://203.151.166.132/immigrant_queue/booking/ Edited March 26, 2021 by DrJack54
Popular Post SooKee
Quick update on this. Transferred my stamps to new passport at CW yesterday. Bit more hassle than I thought it would be due to some running around because of admin errors but in short I ended up needing, in addition to both passports: 1) Letter from Embassy requesting Immigration to transfer the stamps 2) Thai Immigration stamp transfer application 3) Bank book updated to the day of transfer together with a signed copy along with signed copies of these pages 4) Photo / Details pages of both passports 5) Original visa and corresponding usage / entry stamp 6) Every page containing an Extension (did not need every page with a Thai stamp) 7) Most recent entry stamp and TM6 There were a couple of surprises (aren't there bloody always!). At the desk where they check Extension applications I asked if they needed to check for stamp transfer too. IO said yes. Previously they would call queue numbers for document checks and the red lights would indicate queue number being served, that wasn't working this time but it was for all the actual service desks. It was at this point that I was told I also needed my Bank Book and statement running from the date I did the most recent extension to now. Slight panic at first as I thought I didn't have the bank book as from the research I'd done it didn't look like it was a requirement. Had some discussion with the IO there and was about to leave until I remembered the book was still in my bag from updating it a few days before. It was then she realised I was on a pension based extension and then the statement requirement was dropped, she just said to show the book when doing the transfer. Number was called and as the IO checked the paperwork she told me I needed two things. The bank book updated to today with a withdrawal or whatever (the same as when doing an Extension application essentially) along with a copy and she said that scanned and printed copies of the passport pages (which I've used successfully and without problem for the last 4 Extensions) weren't acceptable, had to be actual photo copies. So back into the pi55 about pool and running round to the Bank and the copy shop. Luckily I had copied all the stamps pages at home already so it was just the details pages that needed copying. Then back to the IO desk again and this time all was fine. Then had to wait about 20 minutes for the passports and bank book to come back. By this time it was 11:15 so, as I had waited to transfer the stamps to the time window where I needed a 90 Day Report (first one in new passport has to be done in person) I headed off the the dump that is MTT to get that done. Arrived at 11:30 and it was pretty full. Got Queue A560 and they were serving up to A280 at the time I arrived. Luckily they don't stop for lunch there and seem to process around 90 per hour. I figured it would take me until 3pm to be done and it was bang on the time. I had actually made an appointment online to go to MTT on the 26th April at 11:30 and had I known what I know now I would have made the appointment for 12:30 and gone to CW that day and then straight to MTT with a pre-booked appointment. I had no idea how long it would take at CW though, especially with the latest Covid problem so I wasn't even sure if 12:30 would be too early. It wouldn't have been but to get it all done at CW by 11:30 or so you need to get there at 7:00 am or so. I did even contemplate going home and coming back to MTT on the 26th but with an hour travel each way etc I figured I'd only end up saving an hour overall, so decided to sit and wait and get all the bloody chores done in one day. It was a long and gruelling day though, worsened by the fact that there is nothing at all around MTT, luckily I had taken snacks and water with me for while I sat and waited in the car park. When I was doing the 90 day I was chatting to the IO and she was complaining that the system was very very slow and that this was the reason it had been taken offline for customers as it had gotten so slow that even the staff couldn't use it. She said it was all being upgraded and hoped it would be back up before long. Whether any of that was right or not I'm not sure, by 3pm I was pretty much past caring about anything and just wanted to GTFO and get home. Next 90 day I will do by post unless online reporting is working - MTT is a place to avoid!! One thing that made this whole saga slightly less of a PITFA was using the new(ish) BTS Station - Was Phra Sir Mahathat (its a bit of a spiders web of exit walkways there, you need to use exit Gate 1 to end up where you need to be get a taxi on the corner of the traffic roundabout so it can just turn left and go). Much easier IMO than the previous methods of taking a bus from Victory Monument or BTS to Mo Chit and then a van or taxi. The various fares to / from the BTS I paid, all but one being taxis, were: BTS to CW: 55 CW to MTT: 80 (I used a motorbike taxi and probably paid a bit over the odds but these guys wait directly outside CW and I'd established that the rider new EXACTLY where we had to go. Dropped me off right outside the entrance at MTT which was useful as I wasn't in the mood for pi55ing around wandering about trying to find the place) MTT to BTS: 85 Edited April 21, 2021 by SooKee 3

brewsterbudgen
What threw me when I did this was they needed a copy of my original non-B visa - issued in 2005 when I first arrived in Thailand. I've had annual Extensions of Stay since then. Luckily I had my old passports with me.

If you check your latest passport, you should find that the first transfer stamp relates to 1) your last passport (not arrival) number and 2) your initial arrival in country (date and visa type). Assuming they couldn't read the on in your last passport. I've found this stamp handy with the bank, when they try to check your passport against their records and find they don't match.

Definitely. I have to do two banks, AIS and the driving licences (DLs I'll do once they resume renewal for foreigners as they both expire this month - so much for trying to tie everything up together, bloody Covid) but all that can wait until this latest Covid surge is under control, at least more than it is now. I wouldn't even have gone and transferred the stamps in all honesty but I was due a 90 day so decided to get both done. Trying to think if there's anything else, can't recall for instance if the motorbike log book is tied to my passport. JimGant
For stamp transfer to a new passport, can I send a surrogate (e.g., my wife or agent) to accomplish, same as for a 90 day report?

An agent might be able to arrange it. But for somebody to do it for you it will require a valid reason for not being able to do it yourself. It is about the same as having somebody do your extension for you.
