He made the remark in reply to a news report that cutting boards for imported salmon in Beijing’s Xinfadi Market detected the virus, causing worries that the fish could be contaminated with the virus.

 He knows Jack.

How did the boards get the Virus .He can't say for 100% sure that the salmon or any other Fish or Animal that get cut on the boards Does Not Transmit the Virus.

have to wonder if china will now get shirty with Thailand like they did with Australia, this is accusing them of lying which they have done knowingly but saying it is not possible is a loss of face for them as well

Only a fool would believe the virus came from Norwegian salmon.

It's obvious Beijing wants to blame it on foreigners again, they don't want to admit it was from a chinese source.

no, it is just poisoned with pesticides !

people are crazy to eat the most dangerous fish in the world, that even people raising them in europe do not eat anymore.

But i guess that most people don't know ? maybe because they do not have internet right ? or maybe because they prefer to watch stupid cats videos instead of learning anything useful for their life...

The Guardian -- published on Wed 17 Jun 2020 05.53 BST

Some officials have suggested the virus may have been brought in from outside the country after local media reported traces of the virus had been found on chopping boards used for imported salmon sold at the Xinfadi market.

At the briefing on Tuesday evening, health officials said the outbreak appeared to be linked to human-to-human transmission and contaminated goods. Shi Guoqing, a deputy director at China’s centre for disease control and prevention, said on Tuesday evening there was no evidence that salmon was the host or intermediate host of the outbreak.
