I really want to take train #40 from Chumpon to BKK. It departs Chumpon at 12:45.

I see that the Lomprayah Catamaran leaves Koh Tao at 10 and arrives in Chumpon at 11:30. I don't have any idea how long it takes to get from wherever the lomprayah catamaran docks to the chumpon train station. If we took this do you think we would be able to catch the train in time???

Or perhaps there is a better way. All I really know for sure is that I want to leave Koh Tao in the morning and arrive in BKK sometime in the evening, the earlier the better. Any helpful advise or ideas greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Cindyjay, The 12-45 you are reading is AM not PM To leave Tao in the morning and get to BKK in the evenig is not so easy but can be done its just expensive. The only way to do it is to fly from Surat Thani to BKK on the afternoon flight. Your best and cheapest way is to get the fery, have a day in Chumphon and catch the evening sleeper train or night bus that gets you into BKK first thing in the morning. The first class sleeper I can recommend as I use regularly. Mid week is around 1100 baht, second class air around 700 baht. Flying with air ticket and taxi around 5000 baht

Oh my gosh! :o Thank you so much for helping me out! I had made my whole plan based on that wrong time!!!! Flying would cost way too much, we will go with your suggestion of the sleeper train. So you think that first class is worth the extra 400 baht???
