rooster59
Sharp jump in Covid-19 cases in state quarantine By THE NATION There were 14 cases of Covid-19, the biggest increase over a 24-hour period in weeks, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Saturday (July 11). But Thailand has gone 47 days without a domestic case. The new patients were returnees in state quarantine, the CCSA said. One patient had returned from Bahrain, one from the US, and 12 from Sudan. In Thailand, the total number of cases since the outbreak, as of Saturday, was 3,216, with 58 deaths, 3,088 recoveries, and 70 undergoing treatment in hospitals. Patients in Bangkok and Nonthaburi accounted for 1,782 of the total cases nationwide. Popular Post puck2
Isn't it strange that only "retournees" cause covid-19 cases here in Thailand, in a country with such low infection cases?! If you use your logic then you decouver contradictions. As far as I know, no normal tourist is allowed to enter Thailand - except diplomats, etc. "12 from Sudan", they all haven't been controlled in their country or airport of departure? The same concerning 1 patient from Bahrain and from the US, too? Unbelivable. Only farangs carried the Covid-19, Thailand, but Thailand has gone 47 days without a domestic case. Incredible. Yes, if you don't test Thais, there are no cases! Trump logic. Yes, I know, the time between the virus-infection and the -discovery takes more than 3 days. Therefore it's possible, that the virus could not yet be detected in the state of departure, but a short time later in Thailand. But, but .. that happened 47 days only in falang cases? Incredible. For me it seems the military government wants to hide a lot. Edited July 11, 2020 by puck2 40 9 13 6

Is this apart from all the workers testing positive for the virus after leaving Thailand and returning to their own country ? They caught it somewhere - obviously in Thailand ! And if they had it in Thailand, Thais have it in Thailand. 11 3 3 2

Almost certainly had the virus prior to arriving, talking to Thais who have undergone the state quarantine, it would be very difficult to be anything different, once in the hotel they are restricted to their room with no access to anybody else apart from the two tests carried out. Transit between the airport and the hotel is escorted by the police. 7 2

Strange, my company is having no problem getting people tested (Eastern Seaboard area) in fact it is a requirement for those joining a vessel, even though the vessel is not going outside of Thai waters. 4 1

Popular Post HenryC
Thais are being allowed to return with no CV test (only a fit to fly cert) hence the numbers returning with virus. But if your a farang with a family and want to return to them, then you need a CV test no more than 72 hrs before travel. 9 1

Agreed, this is the main reason, however, these cases are being found prior to them being released from quarantine, which is good, they do have 2 tests during the quarantine period, one on day 4 and the other 4 days prior to the end of the period, these cases must arise from those tests, the officials do have the facility to test them upon arrival at the airport as well, which would be a good thing to do.
playboy
Those are thai people who lived or worked from another countries. To come back to Thailand they need to get approve from Thai consulate to get charter flights. So Thai consulate will ask for Covid test to be negative 72 hours and fit to fly document before allow them to catch the flight. If there were negative before flight then they are possibly negative. Asymptomatic carrier should be test as positive but does not show symptom. So there should not be any asymptomatic carrier on the flight. So the infected person had covid but did not show in blood test. When they arrived in Thailand and quarantine, the covid showed up after couple day. Now the passengers who flown with the person will catch it too? 1 5 2

This is not correct, there is NO requirement for a Thai citizen returning to Thailand to have a covid test prior, the embassies will issue a fit to fly based on a self assessment form. Yes, there is always the possibility that others could catch it on the flight, although they are distanced during the flight and must wear a mask, so the chances are low, one person I know who returned from UAE traveled with another who later tested positive, the other person was fine. 11 1

Yes, I was thinking exactly the same thing, at least when I could decipher his English - retournees, decouver, he evidently hasn't heard of a spelling checker either, lol. But one poorly informed, semi-literate poster is not unexpected, what's more worrying is that at the time I wrote this his garbage post had actually received 8 likes. 2

The strain mutation that occurred in Europe hasn't had a chance to spread within Thailands borders, because Thailand locked down before it was able to. When the borders open to tourists it's inevitable there will be domestic infections, that's just the reality of a virus with this incubation period. https://nextstrain.org/ncov/global Edited July 11, 2020 by Mung

Unless they keep borders it locked down forever, it is going to come in. Only putting off the inevitable. But, I guess an agrarian economy can stay locked down forever. don't need anything from outside to survive.
