Loi Kroh

What is the current bar status along Loi Kroh?  What percent of them are open and is there any business?  Not that anyone here would frequent such places.????

Don't know about Loy Kroh specifically but I can tell you that the whole Night Market and it's environs is dead. A friend runs what was a very successful bar says that some nights he sells one large beer! Restaurants have closed, never to return, like le Spice and until there are large numbers of international tourists the situation will remain dire. Thai people simply don't visit these areas and the proposed reopening of the Night Market on August 1st will not improve foot traffic in the area. You are witnessing the not so slow and deliberate strangulation of the mass tourism industry and the attempted repositioning of Thailand as a more "quality" tourism market. This will result in a much less remunerative industry which employs a fraction of the number it used to do.

Probably about 50 % of the bars are open , few girls and even fewer felangs

Le Meridien Favola restaurant is certainly open so safe to assume the hotel also? Shangri La definitely fully open but not a lot of folks abut. D2 is definitely closed don't know about any others in the area.

I walked through at a couple of different times about a year ago; it was pretty much downhill then.....

Didn't see one lady I would have liked to touch - let alone touch me.....Looked like all the young/unjaded/healthy looking & pretty ones had moved away, to someplace else.....

Can't imagine what it's like now....

Santhitam is the new Nimman since a few years as Nimman became overpriced and many original owners were pushed away making Nimman bored today as well. Nimman still asks 15k for a little shoebox shop while santhitham offers an entire townhouse at that rate. Going trends are 70/80s and Vespas.

The nicest girls can be found there too, loi kroh is like a 1 and santhitham a 9 if talking beauty. With 2k baht you get a bottle red and spirits, to then give girls drinks without a charge. But that won't work well for older guys. Farang Girl bars are simply greedy and overpriced big time; they all expect you to buy for a few of them which with just 2 rounds results in 1200+ bills already, to then get told nonsense and basically seen or got nothing. Might as well buy strangers drinks.

 

Also there is a new boat load of students each year in santhitham while in loi kroh working girls are almost grandmothers by now.

I was there recently and did notice many old foreign men in the area , I guessed they were all there for the young student girls .

I just breezed thru their Facebook page looking at the pics of the girls. I can honestly say there were perhaps 2 that were okay but most looked to below a 5 on a 1-10 scale. Maybe in a dark setting with a good buzz on (aka Beer Goggles) they'd look a little better.

I would ride my bike down LK daily but during the day......once in a great while I would mbike thru it and just yuk.....I did a walk thru with a newbie buddy and he loved getting all the attn as I warned him WHY---of course it ended up in a fight and yelling as he wouldnt buy them a drink, just the dregs and leftovers on that road, i guess most have gone online or beach or bkk....or the fishbowls......isnt even a fun exp anymore...blah

The powers-that-be put down new asphalt all along the road and redid the sidewalks, so it's nicer to go to the closed bars. 

 

Some places are open, a few are not. Let's be clear; that area has never been a hotbed of babes or action in the best of times.

They also behave lazy themselves, that is a bigger issue than the junta. Those that actually add value, service and fair prices do great til today.
