Police raid a wedding party!

Samut Prakan _ A wedding banquet ended in chaos when it was raided by police _ prompting the groom, a Burmese illegal migrant worker, to cut short the party and jump into a canal to escape their clutches. Police went to the house in tambon Laem Fah Pah, Phra Samut Chedi district, after being told that a wedding party there was attended by mostly unregistered Burmese migrant workers.

The two-storey house was decorated with balloons and a lavish banquet was spread out on tables. Guests were munching on pre-dinner snacks and some were dancing when the police arrived.

Chaos erupted as police asked to see the migrant labour registration cards. Guests leaped from their seats and tried to get away, toppling tables to obstruct police.

Was his new wife a Thai lady or another illegal immigrant?

Either way it seems a pretty stupid thing to do if you're an illegal, throw a big wedding bash. Illegal immigrant workers are best advised to adopt a low profile as attracting attention often gets the wrong attention.

Huh! :o Samud Prakan, Samud Sakorn and Mahachai is teeming with illegal Burmese labourers manning the factories and fish-processing plants there. They are brought in by the Thai cops / military and sold to factories like cattle. Obviously, some local coppers thought they haven't yet extorted enough money from the poor b@stards, or made them miserable enough...:D

Unfortunately you are now wrong. I just was told that the police intended to "arrest" a Burmese lady working in a restaurant of the vicinity. Her employers acted promptly and rescated the girl from them. This happens late at night and in the darness..........it was not a "arrest". It was a kidnapping.

The things that these poor people have to deal with!
