No idea what you mean.

Do you expect Thailand just to open up? If you are in Thailand rite now, and not worrying about Covid, then you really are in bliss. I live in the UK, and quite frankly at times it's pure hell just going to get some food. My sisters lives in California and it's just horrendous out there.

Not suffering from the effects of Covid, far outweigh any hurt to the economy. There are countries in the west who would gladly swap with Thailand, even it meant an economic crash.

Pure hell is it walking to the shop and back, never read such rubbish. I've never seen any people dropping dead in the street yet, the town and city centres are mostly empty.

If this goes thru, means the end of tourism in Thailand until.....
also as a side note
Burma, Laos & Cambodia are seldom destination countries for westerns but added on to a trip to Thailand.
this will put a stopper in tourism in the region..

Are Chinese considered Foreigners?

No, they are bossamen.

Wake me up when quarantine and masks are not needed in Thailand.

Not going back until those 2 things are gone.

I'm hoping for February so we can get our winter vacation on koh Chang, but looks like it might take longer, since this damn virus keeps going rampart worldwide.

2020 sucks big time.

*During the visit, he told news correspondents that any foreigners who come to Thailand during the 6th phase relaxation of anti-viral social measures, to be implemented on the 1st August, must be quarantined for 14 days on arrival.

Sounds like a wonderful holiday, rather similar to the UK....

Another irresponsible comment from a government minister...tell that to the folk who rely on tourists for a living....there will be no foreign tourists even contemplating coming if they will be put in quarantine...

No problem for me. Spend several months  there. What are 14 days?

The problem is that you cannot be quarantined anywhere but only at hotels selected by the junta, and at your expense.

Here's an opportunity to combine two initiatives.  Requiring tourists to spend 14 days alone in a single room with mediocre food can serve the same purpose as the proposal of the justice minister to turn Thai prisons into tourist attractions.

Its a >Novel Corona < ( New Flu ) .Its mortality is no greater than the old Flu.Its just with the old one it was not talked about .The best solution is just to let it rip through the population and you end up with herd immunity ,and you still have an economy left .Thailand has shot its economy in the foot so much it will never recover .The good side is that the Baht will sink in value hugely .

It's not any kind of flu. The mortality rate is significantly higher than seasonal flu. We don't even know yet how much immunity is gained and for how long after infection. You're right that the economic impact is severe.

If people wore there masks it might lessen the 'rampart' virus.

1) No evidence herd immunity even exisits, in some people who've had the virus, antibodies are not seen after a few months.

2) Thailand and the UK are similar population, for Herd immunity it was estimated nigh on 200,000 to 400,000 deaths would occur, and that's just to get over 60% of the population getting it.

You want that much carnage just so you can go to Nana plaza and buy some drinks in a less developed nation?

I'd hazard a guess: not you nor any member of your family and "friends" work in any field related to tourism...right!?

Quite a few do actually but better safe than sorry.

Tourists don't do quarantine!  look at the uproar in UK after the announcement on Brits returning from Spain.

a vocal tiny minority who, let's be clear were well aware there is a pandemic and that going abroad would carry risks, and want to put their holiday before the safety of the population as a whole. the vast majority of uk citizens have no issue with this quarantining
