GAZZPA
the stupidity of these Thai authority figures is getting boring and not funny anymore.. they need to develop different sources for economic stimulation as the tourist industry is on it's backside for this year and next year I believe... even if a vaccine is released. If they do open borders up and lets pretend people do come and virus grows in Thailand what then? They will close the borders again, simple as that, so with second outbreaks appearing almost everywhere its stupid to talk about tourist industry.

My only issue with the Chinese is that they're always the first ones on prawns and lobster's tails at my hotel's brunch????. I would love either some hotels for Chinese only (and some with no Chinese) or 1 week in, 1 week off. Call it segregation, I am fine with that ! And they are picking all cherries off the cake and leaving the cake itself for others to eat. I experienced that in a 5-star hotel in Bangkok. 1
TallGuyJohninBKK
According to some of the recent public opinion polls posted here, not even the Thai citizens are interested in having foreign tourists allowed back into the country right now.

Antonymous
Jeez. It must be a sign of the times...I just genuinely mis-read the topic heading as: "Thailand must welcome black Chinese tourists now says leading tourism chief". Well that'll be the day. Guderian
I guess we need to hope for some more major spikes in C19 in China to put an end to this wishful thinking on the part of the Thai tourism industry. 1

callmeacab
As taken from the article: "He was referring to companies - many of them Chinese owned or owned in Thailand through proxies - who are involved in organising group tours. Much of the money ends up abroad and not in the hands of Thais." So the Chinese should come to Thailand to enrich themselves? paulikens
although hes mainly talking about the chinese he does mention a need to open up to all tourists which is a start.cuz all ive heard from the thai tourism industry so far is them being happy that thailand is shut. they're that lazy they would rather lose money than have tourists and have to do some work it seems. finally someone has spoken in the industry the need to let tourists back in again. lets hope there are some more people like him over the coming months. Absolute bololkcs; Russians came in on a 7days6nights package on half twin/ABF basis at THB 19'600/person. They nurse a lukewarm Chang beer on the stairs of 7/11 - so where are the remaining average of THB 30'000/Russian? Same for Southasians and the Chinese certainly dont blow that kind of money. Another load of crock from the tourism corner; they must be enjoying specially good weed there, it seems!

crazykopite
Thailand must be in a desperation if they are prepared to allow Chinese tourists back do they really believe that the Chinese had less than 4,000 deaths are they going to exempt them from the $100,000 insurance policy or the fit to fly certificate and will they be exempt from the 14 day quarantine rule which requires them to be locked up in some flea pit hotel in Bangkok
