this is getting overly tedious, my c drive crashed and i had to buy a new,

now i cant mod games.

i gave everyone full access, rebooted, and yet its still read only

no matter how often i remove that check.

i cant even make screenshots now, and by the looks of it

the shop swapped my 8 gb ram to 4 gb.

what i mean with full access is that if i right click on c/properties/security

permissions for everyone allow the whole pile is checked for allow,

full control modify read and execute etc etc

Maybe this will give you some guidance:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files-winpc/give-permissions-to-files-and-folders-in-windows/78ee562c-a21f-4a32-8691-73aac1415373?auth=1

But if your system is so messed up that you need to do that then that doesn't sound good. Maybe permissions for the registry are also wrong and, and, and.

Maybe you should consider setting up a new system from scratch. That will take a little time but then your headache should be over. Trying to "fix" your problem sounds like continuous headache for the future - until you decide to start from scratch.

Sorry for no better news but that's what my experience tells me.

And 4GB obviously also won't help.

Try running

chkdsk /f  C:

from the command  prompt.

chkdsk c: /f

might be the better option ????

And make sure you have administrator rights.

That does not hurt but I doubt it will fix the problem.

i think the problem is that the owner is trustedinstaller

firstly you dont need an everyone

your the user usually admin also

the less users in that list the betterimage.png.51d73a599706567085328d85d5859383.png

the problem may be that you got it all installed in a shop

renowned for dodgy programs

i bought a laptop in bkk one time

it was riddled worse than a 2 dollar hooker with virus programs
that was a format job
it may be that your new hd is that 2 dollar hooker
https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-trustedinstaller.html

third party installation..

looks like you may need a course of antibiotics

because your user or administrator isn't the OWNER

If your Win10 PC is booting and allowing you to launch most apps then whatever permission issues your running into on a program/game would be specific to that program/game.

On my Windows10 my "Program Files (x86)" folder security settings are

Users (RICHCOR\Users) as Allow for Read & execute; List folder contents; Read

Administrators (RICHCOR\Administrators) as Allow [everything checked as Allow]

You DON'T want to change permissions at the FOLDER level (unless it's a folder you personally created and need to adjust).

But do check the FILES permissions on the program/game you're having issues with.

If all else fails, backup the folder, uninstall, reboot, reinstall.

im not even sure if i am logged in as administrator,

i just started a game that require being administrator

for the password to stick, its just that the password doesnt stick.

can anyone confirm if this is indeed the administrator account

or if i were screwed the moment i went to that shop ?

It says

User name: acer

Account Type: Local Account

Account Type: Administrator

You also have the option of running executable/launchable items in 'elevated' privileged mode by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator"

so am i god level administrator or just another co-worker with no authority ?

and how do i execute the option of running elevated privileged mode ? and where do i right click to select running as administrator

God Level is something a bit different (and there is a downloadable windows tool to give you that).

Hovering over an icon (start menu, desktop, file explorer, etc.) and right-clicking should present you with a context-sensitive menu with an option to "Run as administrator". Also using Shift-Control and double-clicking does the same thing.  Using this option is only recommended when normal user privileges prevent you from completing tasks that require 'elevated' or administrator privilege.

You DON'T want to make ANY privilege/security changes to the "Program Files (x86)" folder itself, else your Windows OS could stop working!!  Not sure WHY you would want to do that.
