Whether you are outside, considering a trip to LOS, or you are here, and you would need to re-enter, are you willing to comply with the current requirements?

I am lazy when it comes to bureaucracy  and would find something else to do whilst awaiting for more normal conditions to prevail. However, I might be forced to reconsider if things dragged on another 6-7 months.

i feel really sorry for all the ones being stuck out of the doors

because i don't see any hope of a change in the next months (Maybe even years)

so what are the current regulations and the cost involved?

I have a friend who has just coughed up 52,000 for his quarantine, don't know anymore than that.

You need to pay also the ticket plane

Thai people have the priority on the economy seats

then most of the time the foreigners have no choice except the

business class, at double or triple cost of a ''normal'' ticket.

Don't forget to add the cost of the mandatory covid test and the insurance

No way.

I'd say that it depends on the purpose of someone coming to Thailand.

Just for a holiday? No way.

To return home because you have a condo, family or a job? Small price to pay vs being stuck abroad where one might have little or no "center of life".

I wouldn't say ASQ is too expensive. The Moevenpick Resort I believe was ~ 65k for 15 days. That's a decent price for that hotel especially if it includes F&B plus medical care.

Of course i would be willing to come back under the current requirements. I am here already but I would not leave unless I was willing to undergo the current requirements because that is what they are at this point.

Would I do it as a tourist.. no way.

A small price? Between 100 000 to 150 000 bths just to return here?

i don't consider this like a small price at all, but you and me haven't probably

not the same wealth.

Starting around 100,000 baht.

I run an export company from the UK and my customers here are fast running out of stock. I have flights booked back to the UK in September and may have to consider the expense and rules on return here to Thailand. I wouldn't be looking forward to government quarantine but the cost isn't the main issue; its if they then change the rules and stop all non-Thai entries, or impose a requirement I can't meet.

Luckily it’s not a decision I have to make as I am here already.

But I think the requirements are too steep for me and it seems like negotiating your way through a minefield to get the tests/flights/insurance and ASQ all aligned .

I have pity for those out there who are having to undergo this and I say “ bravo “ to those who got it all together and came back.

If it was me right now I would be settling in for a long wait until the situation became attainable .

I would, for sure. But, getting through the whole process does not seem to be all that easy at the moment, what with each embassy interpreting the flow of documents needing to be submitted differently, Ministries in Thailand not working with each other to avoid blocks, too few flights approved, lack of ASQ due to feet-dragging by whoever needs to select and approve more ASQ hotels etc. There can certainly not be a dearth of hotels who would jump at the chance to make some money.

One could conclude that the overall design of the plan to allow foreigners back needed a lot more mulling ,or perhaps there was too much of it. Question is. What will happen 1st---Sort out the hitches and get it running smoother, or take so long that all restrictions get lifted anyway.

But, if you have a house / condo here and were stuck in some other place without your own accommodation, and no way of knowing when you could return to Thailand, then 100-150k may not be so bad a price to pay.  I am in Thailand, and have no intention of leaving until this whole business is done with, but if I had to, for some reason, I would pay that in order to get back to my home and family here.

No. I want to travel back to the US, for work and a family visit. But, a two week prison sentence at my cost is not worth it, upon return. And having to beg the consulate to let me return is not appealing either.

But, Thailand should open itself to anyone, from anywhere, if they are willing to deal with quarantine. To not do so is timid, insane, overly cautious and sadistic.

Not if it meant getting on a plane... too confined.

Fortunately I am here and do not need to leave.

Where would all those people do the quarantine?

You should read the posts about the ones now with all the paperwork done for entering on a repatriation flight not being able to get a reservation at one of the ASQ"s.

We have permanent rented accom in Thailand but we will continue pay monthly and sit it out overseas rather than go through the rigmarole they imposed.

Since there are thousands of hotels struggling to survive now, many more could easily be converted into and approved as ASQ's. Such a simple thing. And yes, the process has to be simplified and made easy. <removed>

Again, part of the reason I am not leaving till all of this gets sorted out. And part of the reason the economy here will remain stagnant and contract for a very long time to come.

They are about 40 of them now. The problem is the requirements to be designated as one are costly and difficult to meet for many hotels and etc.

that would be great, if they can do it for prisoners...  why not for tourists, sorry, long stay tourists with family ...

I'm willing to isolate at home with all restrictions that they want but not at this ridiculous ASQ scam paying a fortune.

My wife is stuck in the U.K. and has been since the beginning of the year as our grandson was premature so she went back to help out . She has had all her return flights cancelled . I have reluctantly told her to stay in the U.K. until things get back to normal which I don’t see happening this year thankfully we can talk each day on messenger and at least she is there helping the daughter and new born while I take care of the cats over here problem is I’m having a hard time teaching them draughts and scrabble they either sit and just gaze at the board or give it a quick swipe with the paw to send everything flying across the room ☹️ Happy Days ????

As someone who has travelled back and forth twice a year or more in the last 5 years, a pattern of work followed by extended periods of rest etc with family here, this year has gone by basically. I would be loathe to give up another year, which would make my return to work problematic as well. I will probably extend my permission here by 12 months in January and go, flights permitting. If by the time I am ready to come back, maybe May/June, regular travel is still not available, then I would start to jump through the hoops unwillingly.

And the insurance is another rip off was quoted 87,000 baht for a year as over the age of 66 over 70 it was 130,000 and that’s just for one year. yet when the virus happened I took out a Covid only insurance policy cost 850 bht for the year but it wasn’t for $100,000 I think it covered an individual up to 2 million baht ☹️☹️☹️

I'd be willing as I really need to make a trip out of the country. But the current regulations do not give me the option.

Everything depends on the reason for the re-entry. You said it yourself, "and you would need to re-enter". If you need to re-enter, why ask if someone is "willing to comply"? The need will probably override the inconveniences during the quarantine, incl the cost.

It is a small price. Your sum includes Flight + Accommodation!

Even if the flight is in Business Class, 1500-2000 Euro for a one way is the same as I usually pay and 65,000 Baht for a 4*+ hotel translates to ~ 100 Euro per night plus some cost for medical and f&b. That's extremely moderate pricing.
