Richard himself tweeted a few weeks ago that he needed to keep his nose clean as he didn't want to go through the same Immigration hassle he had last year. Maybe he should have been less verbose on the dual pricing issue but possibly any damage may have been done previously.

 

I hope things work out for him. I've never agreed with everything he does or says and have actually found his work a little fawning at times but he's a valuable resource for expats and travellers. I have met him and he seems genuine.

There are quite a few people living here and having an Youtube channel. They want that viewers subscribe.

The more subscribers, the more they can earn.

I bet that none of them has a work permit.

They solely live in Thailand, film in Thailand and report about Thailand and get paid for it.

it's a question of time that they will get in trouble with immigration for not having a work permit and not declaring any income which has been made in Thailand.

What a pity he didn't think about going down the "Stickman" route & have a job teaching the minimum hours, that would let him carry on with his other interest. He writes some informative stuff...IMO

Completely agree. If your living in a glass house you most certainly shouldn’t be throwing stones!

Don't really understand if there is any doubt it would not be renewed why not call his 'influential' contact for advice and keep it out the limelight .

Did he really think he had pull. Indeed, and Samat Prakarn are notorious for asking for bribes to process applications as I have found out. Even with (and possibly in collusion with) an agent, they wanted an additional 17k from us to grant an annual extension to a Non-B visa after work permit was granted. 

 

Whatever the case may be here they are bullies and threatening Richard, regardless of the final outcome, is an expected low for them.

Some people are brave and want make better life to all! They put they own neck on line of "fire" to help others!

Some people crawl in they own hole and just keep quiet! Richard is not the last one!

I doubt very much you have been following him for 6 months.

 

I would think that Richard Barrow is in his 40's and not 60's as you stated and his surname is Barrow not mr burrows.

Richard used to be great, but he has got far to big headed and attention seeking.

He lost all independence when he started taking free be holidays off Hotel groups. How can he be neutral and independent when he spends long weekends on their dime with free 5 start accommodation.

 

I am sure he will be fine with his visa, he has this every year, its almost as if he loves the attention.

I wish him all the best, but I can see why they might want to intimidate him. The  commentary on the banning of foreigners from the marathon certainly did not endear him to the locals.  However, he has also engaged in IMO  questionable  promoting of some things. (And please do not take this as a disparagement because that is not the intent, it's just that the rah rahism sometimes gets to me.)  The sad reality is that  he is one of the few sources of quality  current event info, and we would all suffer if he left.

Unfortunately the UK home is being sold off ?
