Well there’s men and then there’s Aussie men!
Punching a shark! I reckon that might keep him in the good books for a few weeks at least.

Yeah, I heard this works, sometimes; better to do something rather than nothing, if one's defending ones loved ones. You may roll 100% on the dice. Most likely not, but at least you tried.

I didn't know they had sharks in Australia, never heard an Ozzie mention them.  But they do talk about something called "shocks."

I would rather not see the vid. I still have visions of when mick fanning got attacked at a surfing comp.

Great heroic effort to this guy. Givr him an OAM for bravery.

What a story for the grandkids.

In Oz they are also called Noah’s Arks. Them white pointers are progressing up the East Coast into warmer waters. Time for huge white pointer cull.

Good old Aussie hero, I remember an article years ago where a shark was circling the recently American woman of an Aussie guy who were on a honeymoon, the Aussie guy swam towards the shark making the water splash deliberately for his wife to swim away, he was taken by the shark.

What has this to do with heroism? It's his wife and a shark has latched onto her leg and he is able to get to the shark and jump on it.

I'm sure you would have done the same as opposed to swim in the other direction.

He was on a surfboard and had good positioning to jump on top of it. As a surfer and and a scuba diver, I wouldn't has hesitated, and I would not accept the label of hero for attempting to save my wife. I have dived and surfed around sharks many times over the years.

Not many people would have assisted.

I suppose a hero could be defined as a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character, e.g. he became a local hero when he saved the drowning child. a person who, in the opinion of others, has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded as a role model or ideal. My older sister is my hero.

We all know about war hero's sacrificing their lives for the good of the country, etc etc etc.

Your entitled to your opinion, as most are entitled to theirs, it's not everyday a bloke jumps on a shark's back to save his wife, so he's a hero in mine and others opinions, call him what you like, an average bloke, whatever :burp:

You’ve got some high standards there. The man is definitely a hero. And hard as f&ck.

It seems there are more and more incidents involving sharks every year. Unfortunately no surprise with more and more people penetrating their territory, and humans attracting sharks for photo ops, quite often with bait.
