Songkhla governor Jaruwat Kliangklao has doubled Covid-19 screening on international logistics personnel and illegal immigrants who sneak into Thailand as the possibility of a second wave of infections is becoming more plausible.

He said the situation in Malaysia is concerning, which is why logistics personnel will now be screened and quarantined as soon as they cross the border and must leave Thailand within seven hours.

“There is a second wave of Covid-19 infections in several parts of Malaysia and towns near the Thai-Malaysia border, which is forcing us to be stricter,” he said.

Soldiers and other related officials have been assigned the job of patrolling the borders to prevent illegal migrants from entering Thailand via natural routes.

“The two areas of concern are Na Thawi and Sadao districts because migrants usually choose natural paths in these two districts,” the governor said.

I trust the Malaysian numbers way more than the Thai numbers. And I tend to say that in my opinion and despite Thailand is quite safe for Covid without any doubt, Malaysia is probably at least as safe as Thailand.

Simply because the authorities in Malaysia seem to be more trustworthy than those in Thailand. Thai authorities lie too much.
