Good post . As you point out first impressions are so important and the Imm.Dept. should really look at that issue on incoming guests .These guys at Swampy are probably the most unwelcoming lot I have encountered at any airport .....These guests, as you say spend their hard earned in Thailand and should be shown respect and gratitude...... Ever arrived at NZ immigration ??? Professional and polite .Good example .

Penang Immigration is even worse! Closely followed by Hanoi!

Great appeal to the foreign tourists.....

They came there already 25 years ago...i still remember it.

The only nice thing about KSR is the open restaurants with nice terraces..why can't they build more terraces like that in Thailand?

Thailand has had many Manufacturing and tech jobs in the past.  Many left after the big flood (Western Digital, Scandisk) and more left after the last coup when companies could not get insurance on their European and North American staff.  Thailand has lost a lot because of this and the increased value of the THB.

It's time for Thailand to reform themselves. The old strategy doesn't work anymore.

At the start of covid there were suggestions that people get antibody tests to get some sort of a pass. Invested bodies of course reacted badly to that idea offering some anecdotal BS about immunity not being permanent. Of course if so then neither would a vaccine obviously. Likewise if it mutates the vaccine is in exactly the same boat.

Seems reasonable to me that if you've had it, and many wouldn't even know they had, then you should be able to travel etc without quarantine. Of course if too many have already had it then that hurts vaccine makers financially as there is no reason to jab anyone that already has immunity. Hmm...

Maybe it's time to admit how much foreign tourism brings to the country and start treating foreign tourists with a bit more respect.

But but but... we all know it is the dirty farang who caused the virus and brought it to Thailand...  We treat the Chinese with huge respect already, because they will be the saviours of Thailand.

You need to politely ask in a round about way at Penang if anything can be done.  If you don't and don't pay, then they will stretch the ordeal out in an unimaginable amount of time.

It's up to you - its the way it's done.  It can involve multiple days.  Trust me, it's well worth it.

Please be very careful of being in a closeted room full of negativity and rumination.

Won't have to worry ab

out KFC continuing as a 'shining light'

 - it's only minutes ago on mainstream News; that KFC is removing from all (worldwide) advertising that contains the 60yrs well institutionalised "finger lick'n good" Logos!!

They are saying it's because of the covid-1984, and the connotations relating to sticking a possibly diseased finger in your mouth/or the sharing of fingers... image.jpeg.33341b0bfb731ef9fe5f0ef012868f4b.jpeg

Nah! - they are kaitowing to stupid BLM pressure - against the Colonel of the South

  • 1 month later...

The virus will pass with a combination of vaccines, and treatments, it will be just another flu, (which it already is at this point). The fear is amazing, time to really look around see the reality of this thing.  Require testing at the expense of the tourists, and open the borders. Tourists will comply and life will go on as this thing diminishes.
