i forgot, what was the original topic?? oh yes do single men come to Thailand for women. Well obviously no TV members do as they are all respectable people who are at the pinnacle of their careers and would never think of such a thing. Now back to reality, wether you like it or not , tens of thousands on single men come to Thailand every year for women and for that reason alone (ok and cheap beer) , its no big secret, it goes on every day. Hence i can't see why this topic has gone on for so long, yes lots of single men come to Thailand from all over the world for the women, so what??

A sober comment for Miss Rain, the OP and others - on topic I hope, Wolfie. I'm a single man, I look forward to my holiday in LOS but I sometimes get lonely. I have no problem with dating a woman when I'm there and it doesn't matter to me if she if she is young or not so young or works a bar, checkout or market stall. I ask her along for the company and I'm willing to pay if the company is good, as it often is. If it should go further and lead to bedroom antics, I'm up for that too but it isn't and never was my principal motivation as I travel a lot in Europe too and and a cheapo is easy to arrange if that's all I need, without paying for a long haul flight.

BTW, Miss rain may be on to something with her query about "mature gentlemen". Many of us have a sort of old world charm and grace that the youngsters just can't match.

That's like saying I lived in a brothel in Pnom Pen for 6 months and never met anyone coming in for something other than sex. So all people come to Cambodia for sex.

I've met farang here for many reasons - many came for the temples. Some came with their work. Some came to buy racehorses. Some came to play chess. Some came to smuggle drugs. Some came to forge passports. Some came to study in university. Some came to learn the language. Some came..... etc etc

I repeat, you haven't been living in Thaialnd.

Your wrong (though I don't know what 3 catgories you mean) – there are plenty of single and married guys here sent by their company, not here for the women (though a nice bonus). I suggest you get out in the business community a bit more – and by business community, I don't mean the bar scene, I mean guys who work for large MNCs like Citibank, Nike, etc. What about the diplomats – may be a bad example given the UK diplomat, but he was not married – plenty of them here for work? Does that meet your definition of living here?

Thailand does not revolve around the tourists areas, but if that is the only place you go, that is all you will ever see.

Here is a secret - to the male posters looking for eligible, attractive, educated Thai women genuinely interested in meeting/dating a westerner, get thee to the European Young Professionals get together. I should stress, you'll have trouble there if you are not young or professional.

When I see posters who claim that very few of the long-timers are here for women, this must be the kind of person they really mean. They came for the women, but got married and basically got too old or too cheap to bother with the nightlife any more.
