The Labour Ministry is preparing to host the Thailand Job Expo 2020 in September to provide up to 1 million positions from government, private and state enterprise sectors to help those who have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 situation.

“The ministry has been using the online platform “www.ไทยมีงานทำ.com” (jobs for Thais) to gather available jobs from all government agencies and private partners, as well as providing related career training and seminar courses to interested persons,” Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin said.

“The ministry will also roll out measures to help new graduates find jobs during the Covid-19 situation, including prohibiting employers under the social security scheme to lay off more than 15 per cent of their existing staff for a period of one year, which should reduce the congestion in job markets,” he added.

“From September until November, the ministry will also reduce the contribution rate to Social Security Fund from both employers and employees from 5 per cent to 2 per cent,” added Suchart. “This measure is expected to alleviate the financial burden of 12.9 million employers and employees worth around Bt23 billion.”

As for employers who are looking to improve their staff’s professional skills, the ministry is providing loans up to a maximum of Bt1 million per company without interest. "This campaign has a budget of Bt100 million and is valid until August 31, 2021,” he added.

The Labour Ministry reported that as of August 25, 933,367 employees under the social security scheme have applied for compensation due to unemployment after Covid-19, amounting to Bt14.98 billion.

“Paying the compensation is among top priorities that the ministry is focusing on to help employees during the crisis,” added Suchart.

These completely delusional ideas and "solutions" for a time where quite funny but now it's just becoming annoying and frustrating. Thailand is causing unnecessary damage by keeping the country closed if they open now or in 6 months there will not make any difference.

And there goes more businesses to the wall - imagine having to keep on 85% of your staff in a pandemic with no sales !

Hey it is easy to cut your pay budget with 15% ONLY

Just cut the high earners. replace them with middle management with a nominal raise.  Tell the CEO that unless the company makes a profit of X percent he does not get any of his bonuses and his job will be reviewed.

So they can suddenly make a million jobs appear out of the thin air, amazing man.

And to keep the unemployment level down they will make companies hold on to staff that they cannot afford to keep and possibly bankrupt the whole company?

The guys a fool.
