Members of staff clean up lifts in the Parliament complex that were flooded after Tuesday morning's heavy rain.

Continuous rain in Bangkok during the early hours of Tuesday (September 1) caused a drainpipe to burst and flood the Senate building in the new Parliament complex.

A palm-sized hole developed in the drainpipe, located within the Senate building’s CCTV room, causing water to stream in and cause a waist-high flood.

After seeing water flow out of the door, officials fearing that the water will affect the expensive equipment, broke down the door, causing the water to flow out and flood the first-floor hallway.

Burst drainpipe in CCTV room causes flooding in Parliament.

There was sheer pandemonium when officials started showing up for work in the morning and podiums and sofas had to be removed from the flooded area. The eight lifts in the building also had to be switched off to contain the damage.

Officials managed to plug the hole, while cleaning staff had the area sparkling clean by 9am.

The Parliament was scheduled to meet at 9am to consider the draft of the Narcotics Act and multilateral agreement on tax incentives, but the meeting was delayed because MPs were caught in traffic jams.

Just when they were supposed to release their findings in the Red <deleted> case couldn't have timed any better

Damnit that report was right there, now look at it it looks like soggy toilet paper, Oh well maybe they can rewrite it with a chisel on some stone so this does not occur again.

Did they notice an increase in the number of sewer rats in the building?

I don't think so as there would have been only two legged sewer rats left in the building after the sweet smelling and clean four legged ones had escaped from their obnoxious and odious relatives.

Workmanship at it's finest.

According to another newspaper whose name shall never sully these hallowed forums, the contractor is Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction.

If Prawit got caught short again who knows how much undeclared sewage was in there.

He has a bit of a reputation for not declaring stuff that's been 'dumped' on him - needs watching.
