Thai PM’s twin daughters file harassment and defamation complaint

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s twin daughters assigned a lawyer to file a complaint with Nang Loeng police today (Wednesday), claiming harassment and defamation on social media.

The lawyer, Mr. Apiwat Khanthong, who is attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, told the media that there are individuals and groups who have been posting and sharing false and defamatory information online, in a way which is harming the reputations of the Prime Minister’s twin daughters, Ms. Tunya and Ms. Nittha.

Mr. Apiwat also read a statement from the Chan-o-cha sisters, who claimed to have never expressed any political views or interfered with the political activities of their father.

They said it was necessary to defend their reputations after being accused of involvement in money laundering and adopting their mother’s maiden name to apply for visas to flee the country.

Pol Maj-Gen Samroeng Suanthong, commander of Metropolitan Police’s First Division, who accepted the complaint today, said he would form a panel to investigate the case, noting that it is a matter of public interest.

Even though the two complainants are the daughters of the Prime Minister, he said police will treat the complaint like any other.

Asked about the case by reporters, the Prime Minister said that he had nothing to do with it, because his daughters are already adults and they have the right to protect their reputation.

Well where are the pundits now who support the PM. Waiting to hear from them.  Kind of interesting to hear that they may have applied for visas to flee the country, but then what Visa would they need.  There will be submarines available soon enough.

Where are they going to flee to? The world is largely closed to foreigners, including Thais.

Wish he shared this kind of sentiment for the general public. He seems to think they're children who need to be controlled and told what to do.

So with complete and utter ineptitude then unless there is something in it for him, then with well meaning ineptitude due to being a bit thick....

Seems like only "adults" here who can say and do what they want!

I'm not a fan of the PM but, as far as I know, his daughters are not involved in politics and are not responsible for the deeds of their father - despicable as they are.

IMHO - If the allegations against them are untrue they should be protected by the law.

Money laundering? Who would have thought such an accusation could be made to such close relatives to the trough.

well they had to do something meaningful, so as to keep daddys wrath towards them both, at bay

 - they gotta get back into his good books now,

so as to keep their cut of his fortune when he eventually caarks it...

I've heard the former Thai music group called Badz might be pertinent...

So reported The Guardian a few years back...

Curiously, on his Wikipedia bio page in EN, neither of the daughters are listed at all in the children section.

High profile people are maligned by rumors and misinformation constantly...learn to enjoy your father's wealth and grow some thick skin...just look at the numbers in your bank "accounts " when you feel depressed...

Australia? Completely closed to foreigners and everyone going there needs to quarantine for 14 days.

The comment had nothing to do with current CV travel restrictions...

It was about where Thai people who suddenly decide they want/need to leave the country often tend to go....

Uncle Too should be ashamed that he brought his daughers in this situation. They will suffer their whole life from having this father. :coffee1:

PM’s daughters file defamation complaint with police

By The Nation

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s twin daughters assigned a lawyer from the PM’s Office to file a police complaint on Wednesday, alleging defamation on social media.

Thanya and Nittha Chan-o-cha are trending in social media after netizens tried to identify their whereabouts in response to authorities’ attempts to track down family members of anti-government protesters.

The twins said they had never involved themselves in their father’s political duties, according to a statement delivered on Wednesday by their lawyer, Apiwat Khanthong.

Meanwhile Prayut told reporters that his daughters were adults who had the right to protect their reputations.

The daughters said they would sue anyone who falsely accused them of illegal activities in other countries, of leaving the country, of studying in Australia, failing to pass university exams, living in a mansion in England, laundering money, receiving money from their father, or hiding the fact they were the daughters of the PM.

The allegations were untrue, and they had decided to take legal action to protect the family’s dignity, said Apiwat.
