Greetings all........my wife is back in LOS doing application for spouse visa after we married earlier this year in Australia. She applied for her police clearance 3 weeks ago and has been told a number of times that the "boss'' has been on holidays for last few weeks and only he can sign off on her police clearance.......she is going back in again today to see whats up.......are we just getting "buttered up" for tea money ? or are any others here having trouble / delays getting this document ? ..........should she lodge her application without it and take it in to embassy when she finally gets it ?......regards John

The Embassy need the police clearance before they can make a decision on her application.

I have no knowledge of unnecessary delays being imposed by the police officials so I can only assume that the information they are giving you is correct.

(although it does sound rather unusual.)

Our dealings with the police were very smooth and our clearance was delivered on time. No tea money involved.

There are still cases where subtle suggestion to fast track clearances have been made...but by and large that is a thing of the past....Mainly it comes about from anxious punters who think that paying extra will expediate things.

I would just let it play out....did you get a date as to when the "boss" would return to work ??
