Noisyaircon2020
Hi, my first post here (hence the username, couldn't think of a better one). My air conditioner keeps making a click kind of noise, at least once a minute on average. It is driving me crazy. However I had a bad first experience with an air conditioning mechanic, who scammed me into paying extra to top up the coolant when I later found out this is a well known scam. So to save me money, can anyone give an opinion on why my aircon keeps making a clicking sound? This has pnly started in the last few weeks. The air conditioner is roughly 5 years or older. Thanks and I am glad to have joined this community!
Popular Post stouricks
Roughly five years old or older is very definitive. Maybe get it cleaned of gekkos and sh...t. And keep a record of the clicks in your diary. Edited September 5, 2020 by stouricks 1 1
Popular Post lopburi3
Is it your swinging air vane by chance? You can turn that off to check. If it is perhaps can change direction of air flow blades but could require professional service if unable to correct.

Popular Post Keyser Soze666
I had this for months and you're right it drives you nuts, eventually mine just stopped clicking. Have you got it on swing? Take it off swing and it should stop.
Moonlover
This is commonly caused by the heat exchanger icing up during periods of humid air such as we have at the moment.
Yellowtail
Coil freezing over can also makes a clicking noise. Pull the filter when it starts clicking and see if the coil is icing over.

Use fine gauze. Mine was shorted by an ant whose corpse was still in place. Didn't cost 4.5 K thank god.

The Theory
Check air swingers both, up/down & left/right. One could be stuck, but motor still running.

G Rex
I had similar issues with one of my aircons, and like others have said, it was only really obvious when in swing mode. Problem was faulty/broken drive mechanism for vanes. Got a ridiculous quote to repair it - so just turned off vertical swing - problem solved! Bit of WD40 to ease them may help.
