Went in one bar last night and couldn't get a seat so went elsewhere.

You've managed to come up with something useful and true. Small tips are so worth it and much appreciated in these hard times. No need to give them every time, either. Parking attendant moves bikes out the way to clear room for mine, greeters smile and take my bag for safekeeping. Servers greet me with a smile and escort me to my fave stool, clear out any staff sitting there and immediately leave to bring me my usual beverage. Quite pleasant, really. Have to laugh at all our whingers here about poor service in Thailand.

 

Learned the technique decades ago from a very well-heeled client, Cuban American, I once accompanied on behalf of my employer to show bars in Japan.

The Cinema is still open so is Mr D.I.Y I think Starbugs and Macadonuts too but I don't use them

I think the remaining Expats prefer cheap beer-bars and Gentleman's Clubs...  a lot more of the latter are springing up. That said, I had a good crack in Kink last night!
