BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha listened to a presentation of studies on Thailand’s 20-year national strategy by students from the National Defense College of Thailand, the Joint Staff College and the war colleges of the three armed forces. The Prime Minister said their proposals will be considered and that the country must use its capability and keep pace with technological and global developments.

Gen. Prayut commended the students’ studies and proposals, which are in line with the government’s 20-year national strategy, from 2018 to 2037. He said the world is facing trade competition and climate change as well as disunity among people.

To ensure national security, the economic, social and security sectors must also contribute, as the military and the police alone are not enough. Everyone has to adapt to the technological and global changes through systematic management. The students’ concept of ’concrete, quick and cooperative’ is much needed in society at this time.

The Prime Minister said the COVID-19 situation has affected many countries, and Thailand has to build confidence in its public health system while advancing the economy. With the country expecting to welcome foreign tourists soon, there must be measures to support them.

He urged the people to develop a better understanding with their families, because disunity is detrimental to the country’s potential. He asked whether they wanted to win power for personal gain, and urged them to reflect on themselves. The objective is for the country to achieve sustainable peace and security.

A variety of important suggestions on ways to steer the 20-year national strategy were presented. One of them was the idea of establishing Thailand: Best for the Best, proposed by a group of students at the National Defense College of Thailand.

The idea is to increase people’s incomes, improve their well-being and promote the distribution of income fairly. It can be achieved through five factors: energy, water sources for agriculture, setting up a central electronic commerce (e-commerce) market, domestic tourism promotion and cybersecurity guarantees.

If you can walk on water, you don't need a mask...

If you want this to happen, leave Thailand.  The 1% already control over 60% of the wealth.  Find a country with a larger middle class, that would include China.

It is a demonstration of power.

The PM and Health Minister are in a better position than anyone to know that wearing a mask is pointless. That they can still dictate to everyone else to wear them is about control.

What chance has the Country got if the ruling generals just consider 'forces' colleges and not economics and business and fiscal studies????????????????????????????????????

That's a lot of belligerent-sounding colleges for a lot of hot air blowing... all in the name of "national interest", of course.

Another wonderful piece from NNT.

The twenty year plan will be out of the window as soon as a proper Government is elected, but of course that might never happen during the next 18 years.
