Coronavirus: Thailand added to England's 'quarantine-free' list

One thing I wonder about after reading this news, is how all the non believers is going spin it this time? A while ago it was the other way around, and Thailand was put on the list of countries in UK that needed to go in to quarantine. Then all the brits here posted that was because Thailand have lied and manipulated that Covid-19 results. How is it now??? Was UK wrong? Now Thailand is on the safe list. How come?

I think it is because the UK were so depressed of it´s own poor results, so they just needed to punish the rest of the world. However, it´s now nice to read that they got a little bit back of common sense in their decisions.

Oh gosh, how wonderful!

No, wait. Does England not have over 3000 new infections per day, does England not have a testing system that is about to collapse, does England not have resurgent city by city lockdowns, does England not have the threat of curfews being imposed???

Why would anyone in their right mind want to go to this shambolic mess of a country!

I'm English and I agree with you. What a mess my country has become.

I doubt this is much to do with the ‘UK immigration authorities’?  But unsure as I have not tried it (mainly due to the impossibility of returning here if I leave LOS).

Prior to travel to the UK you must complete an online registration process in which you must detail your itinerary including any flight changes and locations of those flight changes. I helped my friend's wife do this just over two weeks ago, she has now joined him in the UK. Apparently she was asked prior to both flights (she flew via Doha) if she had completed the online registration process. So, technically, you are correct but the registration makes a computerised record of your route, so they would know.

That´s wrong! Even if you do not have a stamp in your passport, you will still have a digital travel trace in your passport, as it´s scanned at every arrival. So, you can be sure they know where you have been as well as that you will get 14 days of beautiful quarantine if the country is not on the list. Problem solved! ????

No it isn't. Never comes out of my pocket in Dubai. Sorry that your continuous attempts to wander round the forum baiting people haven't succeeded on this occasion.

So when you get home, and decide that you want to go out to the supermarket, or to the restaurant, who is going to check whether you have just got back from guadaloupe, solvakia or singapore? Noone is going to check the stamps in your passport. Its nonsense. People will do what they want and ignore the government.

I honestly think those people making decisions in the UK government can't see the woods for the trees. They are getting over 3000 cases per day and just opened schools and universities and are about to see a big surge in cases. Their boss of the public health service and track and trace system (who worked for a phone company before she got her new head of public health job) said she did not expect an increase in cases when the UK opened up, asked the workforce to go back and the kids to go back to school and college.

So now they are worried about people from guadalops and slovenika.

That country under Boris Johnson is a shambles. There is no doubt about that. But the funny thing is that many people there think everything is going not bad. And better than other countries. Brainwashed sheep.

Who in their own mind (hope sanity still prevails) would want to go to the Uk? No quarantine so yiipppeee then you’re problems start, hope people have been following the headless chicken government and decide Thailand is a safer and more sane country (it’s better here than Uk anytime), why do you think I came to settle in Thailand.

So, you are actually trying to tell me and the rest of the members on this forum that no country or person more than yourself knows that you have been in Dubai and when you were?? Really??? Welcome to reality, whenever you chose to wake up. If so, that means there is no longer any means of possibility to know where people go in the world?

How can you even consider it baiting, to just tell you that you are wrong, have the wrong information? That´s not baiting, that falls under educational information.

As you can see there is another broader explanation in post #44

England is progressing back to reasonable normality

Good that people are moving around freely, after all, if one is not elderly or encumbered with 'pre existing conditions' the risk is minimal

Apart from a large amount of home working which is slowly diminishing as furlough winds down there is little current day inconvenience

All in all the UK appears to have come through this ok and is moving forward to normality as fast if not faster than countries that have recorded lower fatality rates

UK lets get on with life approach

Its the "get on with life" approach that have caused daily deaths to double and daily cases to increase 5 fold. All since we started to get on with life. Spain and France are showing even worse figures for the same reason.

Not interested in Spain and France every country has followed it's own course. As far as number of deaths are concerned the past is the past. UK will surely see an increase in deaths regarding the elderly as winter hits and flu arrives as always.

If i was to tell you colds and flu infections have doubled in the last month and the fatalities in the elderly far out number covid related deaths for the same period how would you evaluate that information? lock down for colds and flu?

Time to accept covid is no longer the threat it was well done the UK time to get on with life

The daily number of Covid deaths has doubled in the last couple of weeks and is still rising.

You do understand 'where no covid was found in tests but covid was mentioned on the death certificate'

I think the UK government is wise enough not to encourage a 'free for all' just yet but getting there

In response to the figures I quoted, the government have just announced increased restrictions.

Chap I'll tell you something about what immigration knows about you whether using Egates or otherwise

Long story short my current passport except for very first use has refused to work at Egates. Cue off to manual inspection each time (no real problem)

In February 2019 I flew in from Bangkok via Oman. Egate throws out passport as per usual. Guy on inspection asks briefly where have you come from. Answering Bangkok via Muscat.

He then looks through the passport somewhat casually and asks wheres "Nordsee Clinic" with a smile.....Now I'm taken aback because I know the answer...... I'm British but I was born on the island of Sylt in Germany...... My birth certificate was registered in Hamburg......Nordsee Clinic was a 2 bed "hospital" lol where I was born. It appears absolutely nowhere on any birth certificates or any reference to it at all.....I only know from my mother telling me years and years ago

Yet this guy knows lol.....I answer with a smile to him and tell him the answer. He smiles and hands the passport back....

Rest assured they know you've been through Dubai lol !!

In a couple of areas, as I said, government not wanting people to get complacent.

What became of the second wave anticipated and predicted after the photographs of crowded beach resorts circulated? Nothing!!!

To state deaths doubled is also misleading as they doubled from 1% to 2% of the previous highest death rate

Never filled out a declaration on arrival. I am a UK citizen with a UK passport, which, I presume, you are not.

A friend and their 18 year old grandson recently returned from Europe. Friend was on a Maltese passport with UK permanent residence, grandson is a UK citizen. Both given a paper form on the plane to fill in with their recent travel details which was then refused at immigration, where they were told to go to the back of the hall to complete an online version either using their phone/tablet and the airport WiFi or the provided terminals. Both treated exactly the same, so good luck if you think that just because you are a UK citizen you will avoid this!
