Tourist Visa Aus - Return Ticket Needed?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

My thai girlfriend just got granted a 3 month tourist Visa for australia, we fly out in a few days, im just wondering if a return ticket is needed for her? as we are unsure of how long we will stay...could be a few weeks or a few months.....thanks in advance

Congratulations, Mekka. YES - you need a return ticket. It will be much cheaper to buy a return BKK-Australia-BKK ticket in Thailand than in Australia.

I went through this last week. It cost me 41,620 baht ($AUD1486) for a BKK-BNE (Brisbane, Australia)-BKK ticket with Thai Airways. Purchasing the same ticket in Australia - the best fare available was 61,600 baht ($AUD2200).

It is possible to buy an open return ticket (usually 6 months), but as you have a 3 months Tourist Visa to Australia, get a fixed departure date from Thailand and ask for an OPEN return back to Thailand.

Yes a return ticket is a must...without it they wont let her in.

Usually you can get a 60 day or 1 year ticket...Thats with Thai Airways.
