Laughing Gravy
At least 60 years behind the rest of the world. Venom
What about all those massive u-turn bridges they are erecting to get across the tracks in every two buffalo village from north to south while installing red lights on all the major highways? Hub of massive U-turn bridge over railroad tracks. ???????????? Edited October 13, 2020 by Venom 1
crazykopite
Yet another pie in the sky idea without sitting down and working out the costs . Yes 20 people were killed and many injured but this is a fraction of the numbers when you look at road deaths week in week out . RIP to the deceased.

No, they don't address the safety issue. Not a hope in hell of all crossings getting barriers. Lucky if this crossing gets one. Pattaya Spotter
Always some knee-jerk reaction to any tragedy...it would be much more effective to encourage a safety awareness culture in the land transportation sector (trains, busses, trucks, vans, taxis) and enforce existing alcohol, maximum work hours, and maximum load laws already on the books. Doing this properly in Thailand means you have to make sure all the horses have fully bolted and there's enough of a head start for the drivers to properly flee the scene. Then you take a photo of the empty stable with police pointing fingers at the remaining piles of horse manure to let the public know they have properly dealt with it.
Khun Paul
Sadly as many of us know educating Drivers correctly would be a game changeer, but after years here, I am sure the truth is you cannot educate STUPID and sadly many of the local Thai drivers are just that, they know the risks, oblivious to others and gaily go on their way , without any worries or concerns about others be they passengers or other road users. A country where more credence is given to Buddha, amulets, age old beliefs and complete lack of common-sense coupled with almost zero enforcement of the vast majority of Thai traffic laws with fines so low it is laughable. AND the Insurance companies happy to pay out millions because of law breaking accidents and fatalities purely down to driver incompetence.

Srikcir
"barriers" Lift gates are not barriers unless they cannot be breached by a vehicle. A barrier prevents intrusion, ie., from a vehicle. A cost effective alternate to a real barrier (ie., prevent wheeled vehicles) is some kind of traffic bypass (ie., tunnel), unique road/railway grade/alignment features or perimeter cyclonefencing /berms through areas of illegal crossings. Popular Post SuwadeeS
The point is, to make the Thais following the laws!!!!!! I believe it is a sport, for Thais to disobey laws, rules and regulations. I have seen it by myself, they break the law million times a day. Even thought, they will fine the motorcyclists on the sidewalk..... I have reported over a hundred, never got 1 Baht of the promised reward. Nobody follow the law. Laws are only enforced against foreigners.
