Yes I was nearby and seen it on TV.

They were asked to disperse and leave and they disobeyed as such the police moved in.

The police did a great job imo.  These are not students ......  thugs more like it ... just look at the front line screamers.

When I read the news this morning my first thought was ' The protestors are winning this & the Dinosaurs are running scared.   More power to the youngun's elbows.

  • Totally disagree with you, it is slowly growing, and soon the whole country will be involved. Your idol and his cronies have already shown that they are running scared with this mornings announce

The army desperados think this will stifle dissent. I doubt it will. They are so despised at this point, this draconian move will only make things worse.   And in addition, this will stifle

oldhippy,   surely you agree they were asked to move on and disperse.

surely you agree they disobey a police and government directive.

surely you agree the Police will not just sit and do nothing

surely you agree these are not students as they are just being used to make numbers and support.

why do you think the speakers were arrested ?

Easiest thing to do for this area is to cut their cellular signal and the live broadcast will end...

Yes I agree completely, on condition that you add "by an illegal coupist military government"

The speakers were arrested for expressing their right to free speach. prayut doesn't want the people to hear it.

Last night many thousnds gathered, young old from all walks of life. They were chanting in unison, "ai hia toua". Toua is Prayut's nickname. He's done and he knows it. Tonight is his big attempt at supressing the voice of the people. Its not working.

Excellent work by the RTP.  Control and remove the crowd. Violent groups were instructed to leave and disobeyed Khun Prayut's request.

The police have done a good job as these thugs were causing violence and mayhem.

The police restrained from thuggery and did such a good job.

Try doing that protest and violence in Australia or the US and see how authorities respond.

why do you keep up the fantasy of violent/thugs/mayhem it's just not true. Moving bins and obstruction is not violent, tear gas and water canons are. Why should they obey anything Prayut tells them to do? Maybe you think the two arrested for standing in the road holding up three fingers should get life in prison as well, how dare they.

It seems the Sun live feed was cut. Have to check for video clips uploaded to twitter after that.

I don't know which country you are from Steven.

However, it would be a fair bet that the freedoms and basic human rights you enjoy there were not granted to you by kings, queens, elites or soldiers, but were fought for by people who disobeyed their rules.

Seems to me that the protesters are reasonably restrained in their activities for now. But I  agree with you that the police have also been quite restrained - so far. Those water cannons were definitely not operating on high pressure, but just giving people a soaking.

yes .... that's exactly my first thought when i see the truck come through.

If that was on full the protestor wouldn't be upright.

Big escalation from Prayut blue dye water cannons he will get a stiff neck checking his back in the weeks ahead mainly from his trusted friends as the runners and riders saddle up. personally I can't wait for the trials to start ????????

Maybe the water canons are crappy Chinese made and that's the best they can do ????

Not certain that these youngsters are part of the Border Patrol Police? Can you support your thoughts with any details?

The patches don't match. But maybe these are Scout BCPs?

That said, the chaps in full riot gear at Ratchaprasong this afternoon do have the BCP patches (war elephant with all the options) clearly visible.

I think the color scarves denote the actual police group - there are so many groups. Just a guess. Bright green seem to be Bangkok metropolitan Police.

Look, you posed a question. I answered it to the best of my knowledge. If you want more information, don't want to accept my answer and are close enough to them to recognise their shoulder patches, then don't ask me for supporting details, go and ask them yourself!

They are certainly not the Thai equivalent of OTC. They wear green fatigues and khaki berets.

Seemed to spend more time soaking the police than the protestors....555

Can't now, but used p**s harder than that.

I only see a recording that goes black when people started fleeing the watercannons, then black with "LiveU" logo on it.

I agree and suspect the same. And I predict that sadly there will be some more or less severe escalation happening in the coming days. After that, the government will be replaced by a "government of national unity" with a new PM in order to appease the public, but with the aim to protect the fundamental political status quo and to avoid any change of the system.

I stand corrected. It looks like the version on the Sun website right now is a 2 hour, 13 minute recording, not live, even though the link is listed that way.

khaosod english (Facebook page) has excellent coverage in English, off air now I think but use for future protests, a great reporter & cameraman, he asks questions to Thai people and translates the answers, what the crowd were chanting about Prayut & the man in charge is  nobody's business.

Absolutely unacceptable and disgraceful behaviour of the police. Attacking unarmed protesters with disproportional force. The authorities are not a fan of democracy.

More to protest tonight. Probably many different locations will pop up at the last moment. This governments next move will be a curfew I have a feeling. It will not deter them, just like it did not deter Sutheps group in 2014.

I think you will find that it was not just water dispersed from the cannons, it also contained an undisclosed stinging chemical !

Not an unsurprising tactic from a man who is used to using underhanded tactics to get what he wants.
