Siam Bioscience, same company that was touted to produce RT-PCR reagents locally. I hope they have a bit more capacity that a few hundred per day this time.

They've got 8 months to prepare. I have a feeling there will be a whole team of specialists on their way from 'Oxford' to 'assist' in the design, configuration and operation of any manufacturing facility.

  • Bashers are up early today. Where are the negatives here?  This is extremely good news for Thailand pushing them to the top of the que

  • Does this mean our leaders will be amongst the first to receive this relatively untested vaccine?

It took nearly ten years to design and build the GPO Flu vaccine facility, they have zero chance of making any vaccine themselves next year

Interesting, perhaps they can import one from the UK......

I believe the process is very different between flu vaccine and the COVID vaccine.

tests start today by infecting human guinee pigs with covid to see if the jab works ,,dangerous if it doesnt work

Isn't the Astra-Zeneka-Oxford vaccine one of those that's suspended Phase 3 testing and trials to investigate some adverse reactions?

It’s worse than that, it’s just been reported in the UK that one person taking part in the AZK-Oxford trials in Brazil has died?

Apparently he recieved a placeba.

However, this is a terrible enviroment to be introducing a vaccine. The worlds media eyes on you, any small side effect or adverse reaction - which in normal trials is very normal - but in this insistance it's going to be huge media news.

O Globo the Rio paper says an unamed source, however teh Health officials at ANVISA are not sure if it was placebo or not, obviuosly crucial and the truth may emerge. They said and reported by CNN that

The announcement comes from Anvisa, Brazil’s health agency.

It wasn’t clear whether the volunteer received the vaccine or a placebo shot. About a third of the people in the U.S. version of the trail are injected with a saline placebo.

This illustrates why large cohort stage 3 trials needed and thord world nations chosen as they court payouys/acess to justice easier.

LOS may well use foreigners as Guinea pigs esp those who stay long term to monitor side effects, while I doubt it it will be compulsary it could readily eaasily become a visa extensiom or entry requirement.

Plus while mass produced shots are pennies and mass immunisation here with low wage economy cheap I imagine there will be at first tww tier pricing and of course a new industry by agents who can produce certificates or letters.

While those most at risk normally head the queue with a new vaccine it might be safer to allow the strong and young to try first , soldies for example.

The debate on vaccines is long and heated I imagine a certificate possibly digital, chip implant or passport/ID card  stamp is in the pipeline.
