Hi, just looking for some advice.

The wife and I have flights booked back to the UK for the end of June.

The wifes ticket was booked in her maiden Thai family name. However her new passport is in her new(my) surname.

Does anyone know if she can show her old passport, complete with her UK ILR visa to confirm the name on her ticket alongside her new passport.

Or as I suspect must the name on the ticket and passport(valid at the time of travel/new) be the same?

Guess we can always change the name on the ticket but just trying to save some hard earned Baht if possible.

Thanks for reading, Andy.

I had a similar experience. You should contact the airline and explain what happened - you will probably need to fax them the relavent pages from each passport, but they should be able to change the ticketed name, or at least tell you that you can check in and board without altering the ticketed name. Yes, just speak to the airline either direct or via a trale agent. I booked a flight a couple of months back and didn't check it in detail. Two days before I was due to fly I noticed they had spelt my surname wrong. The agent phoned through and advised the airline, Malaysian, did not reissue the ticket (they would have done but it would have cost 100MYR, 1000THB :o ) and there was no problem at check in either way. All I did was explain to the check in staff the error and they checked the computer and all was okay.

Mind you that was only a spelling mistake, a complete different name means you might be best getting a reissued ticket as you have plenty of time.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

The reason I posted on here was that until today our travel agent was unable to give us a definitive answer to the question.

This afternoon we have been told by the airline that so long as we can show wifeys old passport alonside her new one and our marriage certicate then she will have no problem travelling.

Thanks again for reading, Andy.
