Is there any American politicians that don't cling to some sort of British/Irish ancestry?

I'm thinking a lot of Hong Kong citizens wish Biden's ancestry had a connection to them.

Cummings might leave in a few weeks.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s top adviser, Dominic Cummings, is expected to leave his position by year-end, the BBC reported late on Thursday.

heavy speculation that Cummings might resign following the departure of close ally Lee Cain on Wednesday, he told BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg that his position “hasn’t changed” since he wrote in January that he wanted to be “largely redundant” within a year.

This guy is the real power behind Johnson, he fired scores of high level civil servants and he is also the guy who designed "take back control" and won the referendum ...

Who will manage the mess he will leave behind?

You just said he fired most of the mess.

It's confirmed : Game over for Cummings, but anyway it's too late : even if very few brits still believe in his "take back control" of 2016, the UK has left the EU a few months ago and there is no turning back

bah one good news for retirees in Thailand : the sterling has immediately gone up.

Now even if there is a deal, it will be crappy. Nothing is ready, almost nothing has been negociated by the inexperienced/clowns UK team, there can be no miracle in these last few days

Save for a last minute postponement, let's call this Brexit for what it is - it's a car crash

Brexiteers are now faced with  stark reality. Take a bad deal (capitulating to all the EU's demands) or go for no deal and seeing the economy destroyed.

But they knew what they were voting for ????

It's bad for the UK economy but not that bad. Most likely it will permanently put a crimp on growth but not stop it altogether

I think there are still many here who are unable to acknowledge what they voted for, even after 4 years of failures.

I do not think that Brexit could ever be a clever move as Britain basically used to enjoyed the benefits of the EU, without most the costs

Quote

A CBI literature review suggests that the net benefit of EU membership to the UK could be in the region of 4-5% of GDP or £62bn-£78bn a year – roughly the economies of the North East and Northern Ireland taken together.

Access to a $16.6 trillion a year Single Market of 500m people is the key benefit

Still, a clever negotiation like staying in the EFTA would have allowed to keep most benefits

but even then the UK would have lost the power to impose its will on the EU as it used to do.
