i think that an element of unpredictability is a good thing in an American President.  I'm not supporting Trump, who is a chump, but I fear that Biden will have no credibility as a leader who would do the hard thing when it is needed. The likes of China, believing that a President is capable of doing almost anything is, in of itself, no bad thing.

Rejoining the World Health Organization, Paris, and beginning negotiations to get back into the Iran deal, etc.

Trump is in a very dangerous position and is working all his options. He knows the final executive actions he takes will be undone and the one to cover his butt might be Biden. Yes, there is a chance Biden will be the one to pardon Trump for his many crimes.  Covid is a factor even Israel doesn't want mass conflict right now. I would be very surprised if he takes offensive action against Iran at this moment unless Trumps most venal instincts are unable to be constrained.

The checks and balances are that the Vice President must also verify the order. There are no other checks or balances. The problem is that, by law, the VP cannot refuse to verify the order. Hence the only finger on the button is trump's pudgy little digit (until January 20th).

That is illegal and wrong. Thankfully Joe Biden, heir apparent to the most peaceful presidency in American history Barack Obama, America will have peace once again.

Not options whether to attack or not, different options for an attack. He wanted to attack nuclear facilities in Iran, and asked what options he had for doing this.

 

Luckily his advisors persuaded him that he was having a mental breakdown and persuaded him that attack was not an option.
