I always knew I was a hero.

This confirms my suspicions.

So I can continue sleazing in the bar, drooling over teenage girls in skimpy outfits without any guilt whatsoever as Channel 3 says it's OK!

Cheers ears ????

So, do these "heroes" qualify for any of these new government initiatives or do we still have to get our Thai partner's to book hotels in their names while we pay and take a back seat? Is it now easier for us to get credit cards at Thai banks so we, too, can rack up debt?

Probably not!

Or Thai prices into parks etc,

oops - sorry for one moment I thought we were important.....

Thailand is still a magnet for tourists.  Theses experts are delusional,

and now they appreciate expats.  Prove it by making the immigration process less troublesome

Didn't realise that immigration was any problem at the moment, I was under the impression that the problem was Covid 19, restricted entry, quarantine requirements - maybe I have been misinformed.....

Slow down guys, maybe you should associate with a broader range of locals.

reality check.

I just read the channel 3 link.

Well,

Hailed?  Stretching it. A lot. Perhaps “grateful” would be more realistic.

Heroes? It did say that 80% of the 8.2 million long term expats have gone and the remaining (20%) of expats that remain have been “heroes” but with more of a “savior for some businesses” meaning IMHO.

Not sure where they pulled the figures from.

Leading the way in Thai tourism recovery?  Nah, a bit of artistic license by the translator having a bit of a laugh.

I see some posters have assumed they were talking about “farangs”. Well, no specific mention of hero whitey either.

Sorry to deflate all the heroes. I am sure your mothers are proud of you all though.
Calm down and keep it real.

Reality check please, number of expats is under 200,000........

So... since we all are "heroes" now.... are we going to receive a recognition award? I mean, paying the same entry fee to tourist attractions and national parks would go a long way to help us appreciate our newly accorded "hero" status.

How much broader can you get than the Thai Government with their Hi-Spenders wanted, and low spenders or bad guys out words?  Saviors when we spend and not wanted apparently when we do not.  Go figure.

And at the same time, tens of thousands can not afford the very expensive fees to get back to see their kids, wives,  pets, houses and yachts.

It's not their fault tens of thousands are skint.
