webfact
PM2.5: Thai police suggest people work from home one day a week Picture: Daily News A deputy commander of the Royal Thai Police has suggested that businesses in the private sector give all employees one day off a week to work from home to help with Bangkok's current PM2.5 pollution. General Damrongsak Kittipraphat said that if people stayed home like they did in the lockdown during the height of the pandemic earlier in the year it would help. Speaking at RTP HQ he also said that 20 checkpoints have been set up to check on emissions of black smoke from vehicles from December 1st through to February 20th 2021. He said that the police and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Department of Land Transport were cooperating in this endeavor that will help the situation. Much of Bangkok and its surrounding areas has been swathed in pollution this week. Many have dismissed this is because of vehicle emissions and blame crop burning instead. Popular Post RichardColeman
Wouldn't it be cool if ALL tourists brochures and hotels had to publish air pollution and road deaths in their areas next to how many rooms and pools they have ! 2

Jimbo2014
This was taken about 5 minutes ago up the back of Nonthaburi a day after we all suffered a week of some of the most chronic horrendous pollution Ive ever seen (and Ive been to New Delhi). The household (a close friend) asked them to stop. They refused. They phoned the police, the mayors office, the pollution department. They all said they couldnt do anything. That there is the problem. The horrendous coordinated hopeless apathy of this place. That is why billions will be lost in tourism, health, lost work, lost productivity. All to save a few baht on crop cycling. Stupidest thing ever. Edited December 17, 2020 by Jimbo2014

MasterBaker
What police has to do with the health issues? Huh? I am sure they will be happy to work from home every day
overt2016
The comment from the Cop is why this problem exists. There is a law on the books on pollution. It is the duty of the law enforcers to prosecute the offenders. To offer this to the populace to "work from home" to solve the problem is proof of the incompetence of officialdom.
