Cambodia fights to maintain its COVID-19 zero mortality

Cambodia is one of the very few countries in the world that has zero mortality for the COVID-19 virus. The Kingdom attributed their success to providing effective treatments for patients admitted in their COVID-19 designated hospitals and also tracking down people quickly who came in contact with positively tested victims.

Ministry of Health spokeswoman Or Vandine credited Cambodia’s success in having no mortality and a low number of COVID-19 cases to the “strong and brilliant” leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen who implemented the National Preparedness and Response Plan for COVID-19, the day the first case landed on Cambodian soil.

She said the medical fraternity also swung into action with well-trained health personnel handling and managing cases in hospitals, laboratories, on the ground and quarantine centres. “The health professionals and the whole allied health team were like soldiers protecting the people and the Kingdom from this fatal disease besides all the relevant authorities, bodies and in short everyone playing an important role in this fight against COVID-19,” she added.

Really encouraging news and with Thailand locking down locally and possibly nationally, for further reference from same media outlet today (edited):-

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) has just issued a directive this morning to allow private educational institutions to resume classes starting from today.

The new academic year 2020-2021 of the public schools will begin on Jan. 11, 2021

Cambodia’s 1st and thus far the only community outbreak of COVID-19, dubbed the November 28 Incident, has been declared over as no more victims were detected, other than the 41 who were tested positive.
