Thailand warns of stricter measures if virus not contained

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand warned on Tuesday that more intensive measures might be necessary to halt its worst coronavirus outbreak yet and urged the public to cooperate to contain a spread that has seen cases in most regions of the country.

Move to disband red shirts meets with opposition

A move by Jatuporn Prompan to disband the red-shirt United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) has met with opposition from fellow red-shirt leader Korkaew Pikulthong. Former Pheu Thai MP Korkaew said on Tuesday that the red shirt movement should be retained for the younger generation.

Thailand’s Rayong province shuts down as COVID-19 infections surge

Rayong’s provincial administration has decided to close all entertainment and recreational venues, schools, beauty salons, fitness clubs, amusement parks, children’s playgrounds and public swimming pools across the province after 56 COVID-19 new cases were recorded.

PHUKET: More than 2,000 male inmates were transferred to the new Phuket Provincial Prison in Bangjo, Srisoonthorn, today (Dec 29) as an early New Year’s gift to the prisoners who had remained incarcerated at the long-overcrowded prison in Phuket Town.

Public Health Ministry names 3 Bangkok restaurants where 22 were infected

The Public Health Ministry said three restaurants in Bangkok – Saeb E-san Karaoke in Thewet and E-san Krong Kaew and Nongmai Plaza, both in Pinklao – could have spread Covid-19 after several newly infected patients were traced back to the eateries.
