Rapper and producer Dr Dre, one of hip-hop's most successful and influential stars, is being treated in hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm.

The 55-year-old was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday, TMZ reported.

In a post on Instagram, he said: "I'm doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team."

He is "resting comfortably" after the aneurysm, his lawyer told Billboard.

Not exactly a medical doctor... but money making marketing genius - sure. Beats by Dr. Dre, now owned by Apple, are probably World's most overpriced plastic rubbish, yet people love them.

Well. in 25 years he has released 3 albums and 42 singles of which only 4 made it into US Rap top 5. That's not particularly great achievement. If we go into his producer work with Snoop Dog and Eminem, etc. Now that's a completely different story. But that's what younger generation would praise him for. Given the average age of TVF members, I very much doubt many are into rap. What they should however know him for is Beats by Dr. Dre, which is probably the most recognisable headphones brand on the Planet.

Sorry to hear this. Dre has contributed alot to popular culture. His early hip hop work was seminal, and later his production work. His work with Easy-E, NWA, his solo work, his work with Snoop, Eminem, the D.O.C., Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, 50 cent, and Kendrick Lamar was special. He is no doubt a musical genius. Hope he recovers quickly. The world needs more super successful black role models.

Speaking continous rap, better known as Utter C-Rap.......
