Experts say construction of field hospitals necessary before hospitals overflow

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Dr. Prasit Watanapa, said today that field hospitals are necessary, especially in areas experiencing increasing numbers of COVID-19 infections. These temporary facilities are intended for asymptomatic and mild-symptoms patients, separating them from the general public.

 

Dr. Prasit said, if we do not start setting up field hospitals now, the outbreak in Thailand will get worse. He said field hospital is one of the tools for containing the outbreak, and enable the effective management of limited resources.

 

Dr. Prasit said this wave of infections appears to stem from illegal activities, such as gambling dens, and migrant trafficking, making contact tracing a challenge.

thats not a field hospital, because these folks dont require medical care, its and isolation/internment camp

I didn't want to be first to say it.

 

 

The scariest part of this whole thing is possibility of being snatched away or family members being snatched away.  If not sick can bet you will be before long in that "facility" with couple hundred others.

The immediate situation is well under control.

 

Only 205 cases today.

 

If they can just stop testing until the Chinese vaccine arrives next month, they will have hoodwinked an entire nation...

They build those in Australia, never saw a single patient, ramped the fear up nicely though. Also Trump sent a hospital ship to New York as the hospitals were supposedly at breaking point, they sent it back as they didn't need it. Hmm.

I'd like to know who got the contract to build these pricey field hospitals and who are they connected to.

 

Likely they will be as useful as the UKs nightingale hospitals.

To be fair the Nightingales are a good idea for standby... problem is no-one to run them since half the NHS is on 'holiday/sick' not wanting to get infected. As for Thai hospitals overflowing, how could that ever be since they have such a good handle on things.

 

It is a great pic though; shades of Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason, with the beds.

That's why most countries including Thailand don't want to be treating expats.  Thailand have  already 3 thousand Road accident injuries to content with, its the doubling effect with covid 19 and watch out for covid 119.

Wouldn't do to put low class Burmese up in empty hotels . Why, they would have to bulldoze the hotels afterwards and rebuild.

 

Besides , kickbacks to thinly spread and into the wrong hands.

      Restaurants taking the biscuit, tax now per person charge !

      Was the 200 baht per person charge a 'minimum charge' per person ? or an additional charge per-person ? Either way... name the place - its not defamation to simply name a place that Charges Tax, Service and a 200 baht per person charge. Many bars charged an Entrance fee - 200 baht etc (with which you get one drink) its because of too many cheapskates to take up space without buying a drink etc.. But for a restaurant to charge like this is too cheeky... especially if its an additional charge. I've had many disucssions with many restaurants: Our Son is tall, and some buffet restaurants wanted to charge him as an adult rate when he was about 6 years old etc... I pointed out that the other kids at other tables are older than him - charge child fees or we walk ! (always worked).... The same goes for the 'Japanese restaurants that have a drink all you want for 2 hours promo'... I'd go with Wife and Son... Then they'd insist that my Wife has to do the promo too.... I ask why not my son ?... (being flippant) then they the manager and ask why they are forcing a pregnant lady to drink alcohol ?... But, I understand why some restaurants have such policies - to many people at some point have been cheating the system so the restaurant owners try and avoid this... We pay everything by card in most places that includes the 10% service fee. If a smaller place we are paying by QR Code... and will add on a tip - the issue of course is whether this gets to the staff.... (or Wife will hand some change over - in a small noodle stall etc). Some places charge an Air-Con fee !!! (its been discussed here)... Simple option - dont like it, vote with feet.
