Do Expired Driving Licenses Still Cover Motor Insurance?

With the new wave of Covid 19 hitting the Eastern Seaboard so hard, various government and local authority buildings have been told to restrict or not supply any service until the situation improves.

Five provinces in Thailand are currently now in lockdown, with travel restrictions barring anyone from leaving or entering, unless absolutely necessary. 

The provinces affected by the tough new measures are the eastern provinces of Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat, as well as the central province of Samut Sakhon, where Thailand’s Covid-19 resurgence originated last month.

The Chonburi Health Authority have also issued a list of places were Covid 19 carriers had visited recently. 

One concern, which is worrying a number of Ex-pats, is the fact that they can no longer renew their Thai driving licenses.  

As the vehicle insurance policy clearly states that the driving license must be valid, this has naturally led to some fear that this is a get-out clause for insurance companies not to pay, in the event of a claim.

Certain Insurers Will Cover Drivers with Expired Driving Licenses
