Air quality in Bangkok and 11 other provinces is has deteriorated on Saturday, with excessive amounts of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere, particularly in 26 areas of Bangkok and its peripherals, according to the Pollution Control Department.

The areas in Bangkok and neighboring provinces with PM2.5 exceeding the 50-micron safety threshold today are

if someone said, "this pollution might take 20-years off your life" or give you massive health problems for decades...

nobody would leave.

just not think about it.  which it why this will continue forever.......but in your home country, we can do something.   not here.

Thailand is rapidly becoming uninhabitable.

Thankfully we have the opportunity to leave when that finally happens.

This recommended guideline limit is an annual mean concentration of 10 micrograms per cubic metre of air (µg m-3)3. In the European Union (EU), the legal annual mean air quality limit value (the “legal limit”) for PM2. 5 is 25 µg m-3. This limit has been transposed into UK law.

Thailand is more than double the legal limit for particulate matter in the air than the UK and EU.

Just think about that for a minute.

Yes but they continue to buy rice! In spite of the global warming meltdown, the UK and EU remain silent. Life is cheap. ????

Once again a totally misleading statement made only because they hiked the upper " safe " reading to twice what it is in European cities ..

And even those are continuing to strive to lower their upper threshold ..

Kanchanaburi not on the list despite it being well over 50 most days....maybe the monitoring station is bust.

Nothing seems to change in Thailand.

Thirty years ago, while on my then-annual holiday in Bangkok, The Bangkok Post indicated that, for lung heath, living in Bangkok was the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.  The article went on to mention that, at any given time, a third of Bangkok's traffic policemen were on sick leave.

Thailand has now destroyed what little livability it had left.  It's globally gained the reputation as LOS..Land of Smog.  We have decided to go somewhere breathable.  For the cost of one Chinese submarine the junta could buy 4000 new tractors to clear crops.  Insane.

And when you think that 50 is the Thai limit for safety while in Europe it is 25.

Perhaps they will up the safe limit to 100 and say things are great

with so many great places on the world to retire why would anyone choose the land of smog?

oh excuse me I forgot, it’s great to lock yourself in your room with the filters on and live wearing a gas mask????????

It's horrible, but it's not all year round.  Anyone would think toxic air is something new.  Just be grateful you weren't alive during the killer smogs of the 1950s!
