Marilyn Manson has responded to allegations of abuse by his former fiancee Evan Rachel Wood, saying the claims are "horrible distortions of reality".

The controversial rock musician has been dropped by his record label and cut from two TV shows following the claims made by the actress.

Westworld and Frozen II star Wood, 33, accused Manson, 52, of "grooming" her when she was a teenager and said he "horrifically abused" her for years.

Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has now responded with a statement posted on social media.

I don’t know. There’s something fishy about it!

Exactly.

I mean men would never, ever take advantage of younger, vulnerable women. It must be her fault. She must have been wearing provocative clothing and ensnared him in her web.

am I the only one to be troubled that such things can happen just because someone says "I have been abused" ?

Well you're not the only man who is troubled by these sorts of revelations.

Interesting that this story pops just as he debuts on S03 of American Gods.

I'm not troubled by the revelations, I'm troubled by the apparent lack of proof and the consequences.

Exactly.

I mean women would never ever take advantage of older, rich men. It must be his fault. He must have been famous and rich and ensnared her in his web.

See where I’m going with this? It works both ways. Just because someone says something happened doesn’t mean that it actually happened. So don’t be so quick to jump to her rescue!  I’m not saying it did or didn’t happen. All I’m saying is there’s something fishy about it.

Who among us doesn't have a rape room?

Phoebe Bridgers Recalls Trip to Marilyn Manson's House As a Teenager: 'I Stopped Being a Fan'

"I went to Marilyn Manson’s house when I was a teenager with some friends. I was a big fan," she tweeted. "He referred to a room in his house as the 'r*pe room', I thought it was just his horrible frat boy sense of humor. I stopped being a fan. I stand with everyone who came forward."

Manson's other ex-fiancée Rose McGowan also took to Twitter to stand with Wood and the four other women who came forward with similarly horrifying allegations. Like Bridgers' claim, McGowan blamed "Hollywood cult leaders that have employed him and sanctioned him."

Marilyn Manson detailed bashing mom with perfume bottle in 1999 book

Accused abuser Marilyn Manson has spoken openly of his violence against the women closest to him — even his own mother, who he has admitted he once smashed in the face with a perfume bottle.

The broken glass left his mom Barbara with a permanent facial scar — and he was left with no regrets, Manson wrote in his 1999 autobiography, “The Long Road Out of Hell.”

“She just cried, and I never felt sorry for her,” he wrote, saying he “hit her, spit on her and tried to choke her,” after he suspected her of cheating on his father back when he still lived with his parents.
