CHIANG RAI (NNT) - Many provinces have sent Public Health officers to Samut Sakhon to help cope with the rising number of COVID-19 infections.

Chiang Rai Governor Prajon Prachsakul presided over the departure of the province’s public health officers to Samut Sakhon. Due to the difficult situation in Samut Sakhon, Chiang Rai is supporting the province with a contngent of 49 officers to help between February 8 to 13.

Meanwhile, the Office of Disease Prevention and Control in Saraburi Province, is supporting Samut Sakhon with three mobile specimen collection trucks, to assist in the proactive search measures.

They will mainly be located in markets and villages where testing of both Thai locals and migrant workers is taking place.

Yala is also contributing to the effort. Yala’s Governor Chaisit Phanichphong spoke encouragingly to seven public health officers who will be working in a field hospital in Samut Sakhon from February 7th to 15th.

With the endless dedication of public health officers on the frontline and proactive search measures, the Ministry of Public Health has regularly identified between 600 and 800 cases daily since January. Even though the number of cases has been high, it also shows that the situation is still under control as most of the cases have been found in Samut Sakhon.
