ClambeachJ
So much for visiting my son. Think I am definitely staying in California. Are you folks sure they are not requiring any returning Thai nationals to fly without being tested first like we have to do. That sounds crazy. cpillow
And they will keep seeing it as long as Thai do not need a covid test to fly back, also infecting all other passengers in their way. You cannot cure stupid.

Thais don’t have to test before getting on a plane home. Foreigners do, then they have to sit on a plane with infected Thais. It’s a great system. 6

You are quite right to point this out nearly all on that plane got infected as this virus spreads much quicker, Thailand will have to wake up if this takes hold then its lock-down for a long time
rabas
Here is an interesting and readable article about why, how, if viruses evolve to less virulent or transmissible forms. From Smithsonian. A few forces can drive a virus one way or the other, but they are not a given. There is no automatic rule. Right now SARS-2 is taking care of itself. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/will-coronavirus-evolve-be-less-deadly-180976288/ They also note the early, much more transmissible 614G strain was poo-pooed by many experts, only to become a gold standard fact.

The Asian countries won't release any info either because they don't want any stigma attached to them, or, in the case of Thailand, also have no medical or scientific capacity to detect and analyze anything. So, all the new strains will be from outside Asia. Hopefully someone finds that strange. 2

Jeffr2
Thailand seems to be doing very well with the virus. Much to the dismay of the Thai bashers. Current rank is 15th. Use to be in the top 5. The United States is 134th. Not doing very well. https://covid19.pemandu.org/Thailand.html https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-risk-map.html Edited February 17, 2021 by Jeffr2
