Last evening everything (at least around Chaweng and Bangrak) was ordered closed at 23:00 amid rumors there’s a large cluster of hundreds of new infections. Even the 7/11’s closed earlier than normal. And yes, I know that 23:00 has been the official closing time for awhile now, but in practice many places stayed open until 2 or 3 or even later without anyone batting an eye.

I heard a contrasting story, that this all was due to a new police chief flexing his mucles.

Can anyone confirm?

No knowledge but I would expect it to be the police.

A Covid outbreak does not make sense logically.

It takes some days for Covid to show up in tests (4-5  days with our guests.)

Closing Chaweng because of a Covid outbreak 4-5 days ago is a bit late?

And again - why close at 23.00? Close the place ASAP As they did with the worker's camps in Bangkok. Sorry. Krung Thep Maha Nakhon.
