BANGKOK (NNT) - More than 100 medical staff at many state hospitals have been forced into self-quarantine after patients failed to disclose they had been in contact with infected people.

Khon Kaen Hospital has ordered 105 medical staff to quarantine immediately after they have been in contact with Covid-19 patients. Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital in Bangkok has also announced it would stop receiving any new Covid-19 cases until April 30 after medical personnel came into contact with Covid-19 patients.

Samut Prakan Hospital and Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Hospital dozens of medical staff had been forced to self-isolate after contracting Covid-19 from patients who failed to give clear information about their previous contacts.

Meanwhile, Photharam Hospital in Ratchaburi province had to carry out a thorough cleaning and announced a brief closure of its facilities after finding that six medical staff had contracted Covid-19.

They will run out of beds and room.  If they do not allow citizens to quarantine at home, then the government will need to resort to creating concentration camps for asymptomatic "positives".  Maybe they can even have crematoriums on-site.  It's not a good look, as we seen this before in history.
Other countries implement at home quarantines and seem to be able to enforce compliance.  It's not an issue of having people break quarantine but the government's response to those who break quarantine.  Make non-compliance painful enough (like high fines and prison) and broadcast that across media channels, social media, and through every village PA system in Thailand.  Make if painful enough and people will comply.  How do you think the UK, AU, NZ, and other countries with strict quarantine rules manage their enforcement.
From a global perception stance, what looks better:
Concentration camps?
At home quarantine?

They need to review there own corruption and perhaps start actually working in the public's interest.  Strict enforcement of laws from home quarantine down to traffic regulations is sorely needed in this country.  Class status and brown envelops should no longer be a variable that dictates who gets enforcement and who can skate by.

One solution for self-quarantine could be ankle bracelets as used elsewhere for house arrest.

So where are all of those folks who call us Thai Bashers when we say that not all Thai's speak the truth and give out truthful information, never do they not listen to the government and they follow the regulations because they are afraid of what could happen.  Well now just look at the mess a truthful Thai person has created because they "Did" NOT disclose truthful information.  Why do you folks think that they have and will continue to not allow asymptomatic cases to isolate at home and instead force them into isolation field hospitals, Hospitels, or even into a Hospital itself.  Now there are folks who would provide assistance to sick people who are now sidelined.....Argh, I hate stupid people who are selfish twits.

Wait for it, the cranky PM and his SCG pal Anutin will shortly be announcing another solution to this problem.   All patients requiring to be tested, or requesting to be tested will first be injected with Sodium Pentothal.   Only then once their exact previous contacts have been established beyond reasonable doubt will they be provided treatment.????

I personally know of one nearby family that show symptoms... they carry-on as normal.

Father works in  a factory, mother in the local market, 2 kids at home but mix with friends.

My neighbour said they are friends of them and have explained that they cannot afford to test/quarantine or stop working.

The entire Tambon where I live was 'showing symptoms' last year. People would go to the hospital to get tested and be told, "No worry, just penwat (a cold) and sent home."

This year?  Freak-out!  They will start testing and get their local epidemic this year.  Well, at least those who don't have antibodies from being infected last year.  ????

Nobody is withholding anything.  People feel very sick, sick enough to go to a hospital or clinic.  They go to find whats wrong with them.

If people, for example, arriving in Thailand could self quarantine wearing an ankle bracelet, quite a few people including the unelected "PM" and his "government" would lose out on a lot financially. That's why it will never happen.

There was talk of a smart watch months back. Obviously that plan fizzled.
