Call to my better half and she say they announce there 14 case! She is coverment officer and get "valid" data (if Thailand have any accurate data). There are 14 cases recorded in Loei since April 1, 2021, in government records. There was one new case announced in Loei today on April, 18, 2021. So the government and your better half are correct. Maybe you misunderstand that 14 is total, and, today is one. The complete government records file of all cases through April 18, 2021. Download CSV file here. Taboo2
Question: What is the worst case scenario? If these numbers continue to go up, when will they call it even and open the Bars and Clubs and Massage places? June? July? Is there a lower limit (say < 100) for things to open up? I am planning my October trip and do not want to experience another lockdown like what I went through January 2021.

In Thailand at the moment everyone who tests positive is required to stay in hospital until they test negative. So everyone who has tested positive in this third wave is still in hospital. I repeat, if the figures are to be believed, one third of all Covid cases reported in Thailand since February 15, 2020 are STILL in hospital! If that's not strange I need to go an relearn the English language.

Let’s just use the term “heavy restrictions “ in place of “lockdown”. The Deniers are now coming around to defining a lockdown as when individuals lose freedom of movement, but that is the most restrictive lockdown. Is there something magical about Scandinavia that means they should have a low covid-19 rate? Sweden is much more international than its Scandinavian neighbours so a better comparison would be a similarly international country like the United Kingdom or France. I'm not saying there were no restrictions in Sweden but they were certainly fewer and they're doing better than France when it comes to controlling covid-19. And no one's come up with a good explanation for the comparison between California and Florida, where the state with fewer restrictions ended up with a lower infection rate. habuspasha
So many posters express concern that opening Phuket in July to the vaccinated would be disastrous. But infection or transmission by the vaccinated is rare (at least for those with two jabs of Pfizer or Moderna). I'm one of these who was unharmful and untroubled in Phuket last month after quarantine and I hope to return in July more briefly without quarantine. The surge bothers me but it won't make me any more dangerous.

Florida has a higher infection rate and death rate than California. You should note that California has an open border with Mexico (in terms of no COVID checks), so every day, hundreds of thousands of Mexicans cross into California. This means that California will always have a high infection rate, no matter what the governor does.

I am sure he will comment on any post where people post the opposite of his beliefs. Yes the bars were closed, the restaurants could serve no alcohol, and there were restricted zones such as Samut Sakhon. The second wave this government wants one to believe was brought in by migrants, but in reality it was first spread by Thais returning from Myanmars Casino on the border who were entering illegally into the country and then only seeking medical help when they became sick after traveling and infecting others. Then the Government backed traffickers kept it going.

berrec
If the Thai Government were really serious that would fund free national COVID testing for ALL people in Thailand. They will never do that for three reasons; Money; can't spend any HiSo funds on the peasants. Loss of face; after the WHO congratulated Thailand on effective management of COVID. They would now look stupid if national testing showed the virus was and is out of control. Resources; they don't have the logistics, qualified medical personnel and supply chain.

I dont believe the road death stats, the tourist forecasts (and historic numbers of visitors), the number of unemployed, the one million bar girls doing nothing now and any other number they come up with. They do not have the capability or expertise to accurately collect and report on such a large scale, and they are not alone. If there is a million bar girls looking for work train them in the use of a syringe and the vaccinations will take a week if they do 60 a day each. Sorted! ???? . Are many of these bargirls and other prostitutes not using drugs anyway and know how to use a syringe?
