Songkran 2020 did not occur, as travel was stopped and the days canceled. That is why there were extra days given last year to make up for the canceled event. This year they allowed a modified Songkran and people traveled. A world of difference between this year and last year when we had the primary variant here and this year with a more viral variant from the UK. You can tak to them until you are blue in the face, but in the end they do what they want. They live for the moment and the day, never truly thinking about the future until it smacks them in the face. Exactly, I couldn't have worded it any better. Having lived in Thailand since Jan 2001, I've learned more of the Thai people that I have of the Thai language.

Who do you think is handling or precisely mishandled i.e. let songkran happen and "whatever will be will be" other than the military government. To conflate means to merge two or more sets of information into one. Gov't, pandemic, songkran, rapid rise in numbers of infections, serious and critical patients, hospital bed shortages and deaths. Who is responsible? The Govt. The Gov't isn't responsible they're irresponsible! It's all in the ir!The "i" is for inept and the "r" is for reprehensible. 3

For example in Finland , one ice hockey coach(really good fitness) was in ICU 42 days and now move whit wheelchair! And if people know ex soccer player Jari Litmanen from Ajax,Barcelona,Liverpool. He had covid one year ago and he say not get well yet, still have breathing problem's and get tired very easy! I hope people start to get this seriously and think other people also! Be safe! You wont be able to convince the deniers. They will say low death rate and forget about the other health issues. They make it out like its nothing. Its sad but they have their own agenda's of opening bars up so they can drink ???? I posted multiple times about the problems covid has besides death. It just does not register the deniers are like a cult or a religious group. You can't possibly convince them. 7 1

It's a global pandemic so what do people expect. What is reassuring is that the death rate from Covid is still relatively low. Things could be a lot worse! Death rates are increasing every day. If it continues this way, they will only end up locking it down eventually anyway. So is it not better to take action now to help contain the virus before it potentially ends up like India?

They had plenty of time and wasted it. Also they stopped (for a while) private hospitals from getting it. I am not saying that other countries are perfect, my own is doing worse then the UK vaccination wise. Though now we are at about 5.5 million of 18 million people vaccinated. (or at least have had a shot). Thailand just missed an opportunity because they wanted to give sole rights to one company. Anyway im not totally against what they are doing as they are not messing everything up. But for instance why not vaccinate all healthcare workers before tourist islands ? I mean we read about hospitals shut down and so on. This is absolute madness. Healthcare should always get first vaccinations. Plus songkran was less then a month ago. I dont have that short of a memory span. Edited May 3, 2021 by robblok

pantsonfire
If more lockdowns occur, suicides will be higher than covid deaths. The number of thais i spoken to who are not blue collar workers are suffering. Cant pay rent, cant buy food because they are not working. Finding every possible way to find money but its becoming very difficult as more businesses become closed.

Popular Post tomazbodner
Some 5-10% of daily cases end up in ICU. Most of those intubated in ICU never made it out alive. See how many are there, and how many more are added daily. Most of those will be listed under fatalities over the next weeks and months. 2

Being cynical than the more infections the larger the demand will be for vaccine and hence the bigger opportunity for price gouging. Now let's see, who is producing the vaccines in Thailand ?
