ICE vs EV, the debate thread
I have the same problem .. free energy for the car. ... Damn you solar ... I suspect, because of that free energy, it's taking it's toll on the car. Instead of driving a necessary, mandatory (for convenience) 260 kms a year (10 kms once every 2 weeks) to stock up at Makro, I drive ~20k kms a year instead, since it's basically free. Of course this takes a toll the brakes, maybe, if I actually used the brakes more often, instead of relying on regen to slow the car almost to a stop. OK, surely the extra time on the road is wearing down the suspension, and struts may have to be replaced. Add in the added cost of all that extra windshield washing fluid, and it's getting expensive. Just today I drove to a local lake, to sip coffee somewhere different, fly the drone, and let the dog get some new sniffs in, as she bored going to the local park. Gave the wife a break from the slave labor on the plantation. I think I heard here humming "Eli's a coming". Why oh why did I buy a damn BEV ... 😭 -

Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
It was April this year. Spoke with a lawyer in the lawyers office room and with 2 from the operational dept. And a lot of bystanders in the room listening at the conversation, including the head of the lawyer office. I had English and Thai copies of the Dutch DTA taken from the Thai RD website. My DTA exemptions regards director fees I receive from my own private limited company based in the Netherlands. And also capital gains from property based in the Netherlands. I read the clauses of exemptions in Thai and English several times before. Also had the confirmation of the Dutch tax lawyers before I entered the meeting. The lawyer did not say a word throughout the meeting. One employee of the operational dept was very vocal and said that in the history of the cases she handled, there was not an instance of exemptions. Then she said incorrect things. She said that in my case tax credits would be allowed. However in the DTA tax credits were not stated for these income sources. In the end she made a suggestion - one way to not to pay tax is not to be tax resident on the year that I want to remit a lot of money. This factually is also incorrect. Because it depends whether the income source remitted was earned on a year whether you are tax resident or not. So trust level of local Thai RD went through the bottom. And sending an email to the Bangkok central RD law department also did not give hope - no reply. In the end I did not have the energy left to setup a meeting with a tax office more experienced in handling foreigner cases like in Bangkok. -

Online shopping abroad, but delivering to Thailand.
Most of my online shopping outside Thailand is usually done on Amazon. Whether bought from US, UK or other. They have my card details, and everything goes smoothly. Amazon allows shipping to several addresses or pick up points. I now wish to buy something from a different US seller as not available on Amazon. Does anyone know if UK card providers will allow payment for something bought online in a second country, (US), and being shipped to a third country (TH)? I'm pretty sure some security flags might be raised, and I don't want to get my card locked. I was hoping to use PayPal, but it doesn't seem to work from Thailand. TIA. -
