About 1.3 million Thais have been vaccinated by the Thai government so far, with over 510,000 people having received both doses of either Sinovac’s CoronaVac or the AstraZenecaversion, mainly the former.

With almost 2% of the local population inoculated and no clear plans yet for non-Thai residents, questions have been raised about the full picture of vaccination in Thailand, both for locals and expatriates alike, especially in light of the third wave, which is seeing about 2,000 new infections a day.

Here are the latest details about Thailand’s vaccination programme, timeline and answers to some other questions.

“More than half of Thailand’s population to receive 1st dose by July.”

Not sure how they expect to accomplish that. Maybe by October if everything goes perfectly.

Edit : the info gram itself does not even support this claim !

Delivered - 3.6m

Sinovac May - 2.5m

AZ - June 6m

AZ - July 10m (generous assumption delivered and given in July)

TOTAL = 22.1m.....

“Houston - we are missing 11m doses.”

Thailand was in a good place at the onset of this COVID business and than they have rested on their laurels and dropped their guards and threw caution to the wind and here are the results,

Thailand will come good again but at a hefty cost to pay to it's people and economy, and now it's up to the leadership to minimize the costs and damage as much as possible..

So half of population first dose by June yet only 16 million vaccinated in June- July and general population can't even register till August?

Yeah right. As usual crystal clear, unambiguous messaging ????

  • Popular Post

Even with the vaccine  progress in the US, they are talking about another wave coming possibly in the fall.

Here, there are many people in the north or away from cities throughout the country that have no idea about registering or don't care or will not take time to do so.

Short of the government here actually getting out into communities throughout the country, I see this plan unfortunately as failing.

"Thailand vaccine plans..."

good to read how quickly they work. Pfizer not applied yet in talks

Moderna in consideration

Sputnik V Applied case pending.

So in other words. time enough and in the meantime we tell the public nothing to fear we will have Modern a for private hospitals, 10-20 mill doses are coming of Pfizer and Sputnik V we keep our mouth shut. But everybody can get Sinovac or Astra Zenica

I'm not sure if it's government or his own initiative, but puyai-baan has been on the speakers several times encouraging the older villagers to go to his office to register, no messing around with apps his assistant does everything.

If past experience is anything to go by he will also arrange transport to the vaccination site for those who need it.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

They could try extending the time between shots to 12 weeks as has been done in the UK. It seems to have worked very well. It get a reasonable amount of protection to more people early on.

Well, it looks good, that's the main purpose.

Net: If over 60 or have underlying conditions, you can get a jab in June.  The rest starting in July.  Only 2 jabs available.  The rest?  Who knows.

Right?

In the U.K. 37 million have been vaccinated and half of them have already had the second vaccine yet here Thailand has taken the advice from the PM who told us that the virus will blow away in the wind

I read in a report yesterday that some medical staff had reactions having had the sinovac vaccine

  • Popular Post

So far they have vaccinated on average 21-22,000 people per day.

That is about 7.6 million per year. They seriously need to speed up the process if they want to give 100 million doses by the end of the year.

You better read the new Jonas Salk report on the vaccine before you do anything..,.before you do anything

Funny, how the best vaccines are not approved yet. Too costly?

He died in 1955; so what do you mean?

Comparing Thailand to UK where they have first rights and hoarding supplies of their own vaccine isn't really logical. Even the EU is complaining so.

Most of the vaccines in the cartoon are TBC.

AZ seems "confirmed" but there is little to no transparency there.

And what is the plan for adminstering the vaccines. Sure there's lots of jabbering about "apps", and "four committees", and vaccine centers.

If they adhere to a "Thai" process - it takes me ~ 15 minutes, and twelve signatures, to get a new banknbook - they're/we're hosed.

Given their current rate, best described as glacial, it will take at leaast three years to deliver 100 million doses.

I think tectonic is closer ????

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

The sad truth is in what they are or not doing, not what they say: "what will be", almost certainly WON'T BE.

Leadership, thats the underlying problem.

More than half of Thailand population to receive 1st dose by end of July....????

Not even best guess from the graphic could even get there. That is without taking into consideration that Siam Bioscience are not going to suddenly go from producing no vaccines to producing 6 million then 10 million per month in two months....

Also no one appears to have even considered how to run the vaccination plan or the logistics of getting needles into arms. In the UK they recruited and trained an army of volunteers to assist with it. To get to half the population vaccinated by end of July they would need to be doing something like 1 million per day. Currently they are doing about 10,000 a day and they don't have the vaccines either.

Add Somtum to that list.

There was a thread by webfact I think, saying how the gubmint was contacting clinics to administer vaccines.

That was maybe 8 weeks ago, & nothing has been mentioned since.

So who bloomin' knows? ????

They missed the best window to get everyone vaccinated . I dont see what the hold up is if the vaccines been approved in other countries and put to use . Get it, start giving it to people ! Let the hospitals import it . Stop procrastinating . Stop talking and start taking action. I m very disappointed in the in what could have been done and what has been done ....
